50 Word Story – Cardboard Roof

The cardboard roof does little to keep the icy rain and bone-chilling cold from compounding his pain.  Looked upon as a piece of worthless trash, he is invisible to passersby..

Perhaps if they realized they were just one paycheck away from his Hell, they’d offer him a bit more sympathy.

I Gave You My Soul

I gave you my soul

Naked and vulnerable

What was I thinking?

All I wanted was your love

And you crushed me to pieces.

~

Love is what’s sacred

Yet you treat it like folly

And who’s is the victim,

Me…the one you claim to love

The object of your hatred.

~

Maybe I’m the fool

Gullible, the stupid one

Believing in love

Like Shakespeare’s starstruck lovers

And I’m Romeo

Something Gnaws At Me

Something gnaws at me

Shredding the scars of my heart

Left to bleed again

Cleanly cut by razor blades

Love’s left to spill on the floor

Why pain in passion

So much that it breaks the heart

Contradictory

Is not love the greatest joy

As promised from up above

Perhaps I’m fickle

Believing that love is grand

Like in fairytales

If this turns out to be false

Then I am a born victim
