We have feeders in our backyard which have a colored sugar water in them which the are attracted to. They are absolutely the most amazing birds in the world. I hope that you get to see them in the wild someday.
I knew you from “the west” but didn’t realize you were in AZ. How neat! I was born there. π Had heard that AZ has tons and tons of hummingbirds. I really only see them briefly, maybe once a year — but my grandparents had tons of them at their farm. They can be feisty, can’t they? Peeping and zipping at one another as they raid the nectar feeder. Adorable though! And beautiful. Your poem does them justice!
How interesting, you were born here and most of my family was born in Pennsylvania. I was born and raised in New Jersey, but I spent a great deal of time in PA in my younger days. As a matter of fact my wife and I spent our honeymoon in Amish country. We have quite a few hummingbirds in our yard, I just love them, they are so unique and beautiful. I couldn’t agree with you more.
I was in AZ because Dad was in the Army when I was born. Now I’m about 2 hours west of Amish country.
Wow — how ironic!

My mother and her side of the family was born and raised in Altoona, I think we may still have a few relative left there, but not too many any more.
About 3 hours away I think….
I haven’t been there since I was small which means it was a long, long time ago. π
Not β’thatβ’ horribly long ago, silly! π
Well thank you but it was over 40 years ago. π
A blink of an eye. Seriously. π
That it is. π
Very nice. I especially like the picture: “statuesque in its feeding.” It’s such a perfect description of a hummingbird, and I don’t think there’s any other bird that it would fit as well.
Beautiful!
Thank you so much.
I really want to see a wild hummingbird some day. You really paint a picture of what I think it would look like.

Very cool. They don’t live in our area, so I’ll have to go without for a while.
Aww, how sweet. This piece is so sweet and happy. π
Igave been trying to write some happier and more peaceful pieces. I’m really glad you like this one. π
It is adorable. π
Thanks, I think hummingbirds are by far one of the most fantastic creatures on the planet, there really is anything else like them. π
Stunning as always Dom π
Thank you very much Roxi, I appreciate that. π
It’s a dream of mine to see hummingbirds.
They are quite abundant here in Arizona, I think they like the warm weather. π
