Can You Smell The Winds Of Change

Can you smell the winds of change?

Not confined by border or ethnicity;

It cares not about race, creed or color.

For so long the grass has been trampled,

Crushed under ornate boot heels,

Mowed down by the sharpest of blades

With no thought of the consequences.

Resilience is the way of nature.

Young shoots and saplings rebound,

They cannot be kept down.

Can you smell the winds of change

As they comes for you?

Your palaces and coffers cannot protect you,

Shuttered windows cannot save you,

We are not fooled by your fained sympathy,

Looking us in the eyes from marbled balconies

And lying through your yellowed teeth.

You do not know our condition!

You do not know our pain

As yours are the boots that have ground us to dust!

Take your hollow words and scream into the wind.

Choke on the vomit you spew,

Knowing that the end is near

And it is you that will be crushed

For all of the harm that you have done.

I Grow Weary Of This Eternal Fight (Sonnet)

I grow weary of this eternal fight,

Shackled to the rack of banker and coin.

Neither watch out for societies rights,

Instead every turn–a kick to the groin.

Warned of their evil for centuries past,

We heeded their warning ’til memories fade.

Enslave us they must, right on down to the last,

By our sweat and blood until death we have paid.

It stops not here for the cycle goes on,

Our children continue to pay on our debts.

We and our progeny are nothing but pawns,

On whose lives without conscience they’ve all placed their bets.

The greed of our system we claim best in the world,

Quite possibly it would be if the bankers we had hurled.

Brinkmanship of Fools

Brinkmanship of fools

Buffoons clutching at the rope

Game of Tug-O-War

A nation’s demise the prize

For their own self-interest

Not our finest hour

As default edges closer

A vicious cycle

Returned to our beginning

Tyranny and oppression

Hands Outstretched Across Aisle Hallowed

Hands outstretched across Aisle hallowed

Feigning sincerity and honest concern

Smiles and handshakes, there meaning shallow

Political mutiny from stem to stern

~

Spoils for the taking a populace held hostage

Bends to their whim and their will

With head in the sand like proverbial ostrich

They cater to every tyrant and shill

~

Too blind to notice or choosing not to see

Middle panders fringe left and then right

With no sense of reason what will be will be

Too beat down to put up a fight

~

When self-interest takes over who holds the bag

Its the poor, elderly and non-essential

Defined by the very people who brag

That their views are the most consequential

~

Left with a government who has shuttered their doors

We The People have nowhere to turn

Being held at the mercy of liars and whores

May their pinstripes and wingtips catch fire and burn

~

Honestly looking upon the tragedy we face

On whom does the fault truly lie

Yes, on the rodents that inhabit this place

But also on the uninformed, uninvolved, you and I

~

So when next we sit down and complain of our state

Look inside to what you have done

For without participation, this inevitable fate

Will consume and never be undone

Hail To The King

We are living in a land of broken dreams and promises,

Those with means, rush to deny what should be obvious to the rest,

Ha! It’s the Land of Opportunity, for whom I ask?

Common is it for the common man to grow then stagnate,

Trapped in the tracks of his caste.

Not for lack of desire, but of meaningful opportunity.

Crawling up and up only to find the steps paved in jagged glass,

Barefooted from birth we are cut and scarred with each step,

No red carpet nor ivory towers lay in wait.

Instead pittances to pacify the masses are offered to give hope,

Promises that they too are worthy of abundance,

These promises ring hollow…leaving us with the taste of sand,

While the oligarchy scoffs from their luxurious boardrooms.

Cries to the state offer little relief,

As they themselves are counted amongst the elite,

Leaving the rest to scrounge for scraps in their rubbish heaps.

This was not the promise of this once great nation,

Old money, family money, dynasties, unfettered corporatism…greed!

Safeguards dreamt by the founders have been tilled and buried,

Bastardized by modern men with corrupt ideals.

Shall we once again embrace…

The monarchy!
