I Sat To Pray

I sat to pray

And screams of hate

Shattered the peace.

I question what I believe!

How can I prescribe to something

That judges…most un-Christlike,

The heart and soul of another;

Claiming to know the mind of God

And to speak with certain authority

On His behalf.

How hypocritical this seems!

Christ did not judge the beggar,

Nor the Samaritan;

He loved them both

And that was his lesson.

Sadly, you seem to have been deaf,

For you judge, most cruelly

Those that do not fit your view.

You proclaim to the Heavens your Christianity,

But clearly have forgotten the words of Christ

Written so plainly in Mark 12:31:

“Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”

There is none other commandment greater than these.”

Surely you must be filled with self-loathing,

For treating another soul with such contempt

Defies God’s most precious command.

We Have Regressed

We have regressed.

What little progress we’ve made

Has been erased by hatred

And fools thrashing for power.

Watch the news,

See and hear the racist tools

Drooling over every word

Spewed by their xenophobic christ.

He has no answers,

He has no substance,

Yet they follow blindly

Like fairytale mice.

There is danger in words

Stoked by the fire of ego.

We are told to be afraid…

That threats loom in the shadows,

But this peril does not come from people of color,

Or Muslims,

Or gays;

No, the greatest danger

Comes from within.

McCarthy must be smiling from the grave

As his new disciple takes the stage.

From Hell surely he must be pleased.

God help us all.

Your Beliefs Guide You…

Your beliefs guide you…or misguide you

Like the dam trains the river.

We are born to know no hate,

No prejudice,

No racism,

No ascension of color,

This must be taught…instilled

By those who influence the young and malleable.

Children do not see difference,

To them a playmate is a playmate is a playmate

Until it is ruined by age.

O’ for us all to be children again,

Blind to race, creed and color

Returning the world to its purity,

Its wonder,

Its innocence,

Where we all would live in peace.
