Boarded Windows

Boarded windows,

Graffiti covered,

Paint peeling,

Chain link rusted,

Grass overgrown,

Strewn with litter,

Sidewalks cracked,

Shutters hanging,

Door unhinged,

Doorbell silent,

No one home,

For Sale sign,

Bank owned,

No ones buying,

House after house,

Block after block

City after city,

All the same,

Plant closed,

Jobs left,

Gone for good,

Overseas,

What to do

Same old question,

Same old answer,

No food,

No home,

No job,

No one cares.

There’s a boarded up house near mine that was foreclosed. It’s scary to see that because it makes me think that something is going wrong with the local economy. Too bad nobody can figure out a way to put homeless people in these empty houses.

That would be a wonderful use for these bank owned properties, but the banks have no interest in helping people only in making money. Thanks for taking the time to read my poem

You’re welcome. It’s odd how an institution that is supposed to hold and protect people’s money is obsessed with keeping it. Though, I’m not really knowledgeable on how it works, so I could be wrong.

Another great poem with great imagery. At one time, I believe there were three foreclosed homes on my street. Hopefully, things will change.

I sure hope so. We have two within a 5 house radius, so discouraging and far too frequent.

How sad and hopeless, I’ve never seen the point of homes being repossessed to then just decay while someone is left homeless.

It is sad. There are virtually no neighborhoods in the U.S. where you don’t find homes foreclosed on and in some cases the people are left homeless. I live in a good neighborhood, but the house next door to me and across the street from me are both vacant and foreclosed on by the banks. It is something no one should have to endure.
