Walking Away

Walking away,

Withdrawing into my conscience as my conscience dictates.

~

This water-cooler talk, here say, utter nonsense,

Tearing down the fabric that binds us;

Serving agendas of personal gain or revenge

Humiliation or mistrust.

What purpose does this serve?

Certainly none to better our kind.

~

I neither want nor take any part in these juvenile games,

As I have been victim myself on more than one occasion.

Few can pronounce they have not I propose.

~

Harken back to the embarrassment, the anger, the trauma;

Was this pleasurable—most surely it wasn’t.

What pleasure can be derived by such caterwauling?

None I submit, but momentary satisfaction

followed by regret and sorrow if your heart yet beats.

~

Would not your energies better serve kindness and generosity

than the degradation of our comrades?

~

Would it not be better to think before we speak?

    Great poem. People should think before they speak more often.

      Unfortunately I think we are all guilty of this once in a while. :)

      Thank you, I like to think I do, but to be honest I have many times where I have failed at this. Sometimes my mouth moves faster than my brain. :)

    Guilty as charged. But – aways working toward a better me. Not always easy though…

    Ok. So this is my day-job. Lots of eye rolling and plnty of segregation (I suppose I dn’t play well with others). It’s more than annoying to watch my “superiors” talk like they’re 15 year olds. Ridiculous.

      I couldn’t agree more, don’t they have anything better to do! The whole thing is juvenile, not to mention unprofessional.

      1. Shackled and Crowned Avatar

        Well, I’m surely NOT here to be professional. This is kind of me space, away from real life.

        Oh I know, I meant in office environments not here. Hopefully HERE is where we get to have some fun away from our real lives. :)

        Sometimes. Except those who take it too seriously.

        Juvenile, I completely agree.

    gossip can be malicious…were it not there would be little interest. Sad but true! Fine writing.
