Loneliness – A Septolet

Loneliness,

self imposed

out of shyness,

A struggle.

 .

Afraid

of hurt,

I’ll remain invisible.

Very nice! I hadn’t heard of this one before but will have to try it some day. ;)

You should give it a try, it consists of 14 words, 7 lines and two parts that must be separated. This is a pretty easy form, but because it has structure it requires a little extra thought at least for me anyway. :)

I’m feeling pretty good about structured poems; in a way they are a bit easier for me these days because they sort of give me a toe-hold — a good place to get started. This one could be just as tough as a haiku. Each word carries so much weight in a short, structured poem.

New poetic forms make me sorta giggly! Mwah ha ha ha! ;)

That’s good, I have one coming up that kicked my proverbial butt. :) I found it very difficult, but others might not. Like you I enjoy writing structured poems as well and will be doing more to hopefully get better at them. :)

I posted it a little while ago, it is a Ghazal, extremely difficult for me, but so far people have like it. Thanks Jen. :)
