Corporate muscles flexed once again,
Trampling the rights of the common man.
What fools believe that corporations are people?
Why does one person’s belief trump that of another?
Where is the judicial in all of this?
Are they not charged with protecting the people’s rights?
They have become political tyrants,
Partisan and putrid as the legislative and executive.
“We The People” has become a joke;
Something relegated to the past,
Something we look back fondly on that once existed,
But sadly exist no more.
Individuals have no power to enact change
Where money and business rule.
Silenced by the dollar, we are ignored.
Was this erected in our framework,
Was this what the founders intended,
That man should be subjugated by greed and profit?
We cry foul at those who infringe on human and civil rights,
Yet we are nothing but hypocrites,
Infringing on the rights of our own.
There is no fairness under the law,
There is no justice under the law,
Unless you can afford to buy it.
Raise the gavel…
We’ve sold out to the highest bidder!

Sad, but true.
It is sad, we saw it again yesterday when a for profit corporations rights trumped those of the people. The list could go on and on and the Supreme Court just rubber stamps it. The bottom line is that corporations are not people. Sorry for the rant.
No problem. Been seeing that rant a lot today for good reason.
Reblogged this on By the Mighty Mumford and commented:
YUP….NO ABSOLUTE MORALS (LIKE THE BANNED JUDAEO-CHRISTIAN)…NO NEED TO KEEP UP THE PRETENSE OF FOLLOWING THE “GEMTLEMANS’ AGREEMENT” REGARDING FOLLOWING THE LAW….NOW THE POWERFUL TAKE AND IGNORE THE FOUNDER’S DESIRES!
Very much so and there are a great deal of sheep in this country that cheer on the corporatization of America when they should be up in arms. Thank you for the re-blog my friend.
It is so true! 🙂 (in my opinion)
Criminal!
I agree, it is criminal, but a good portion of Americans seem to sanction it, I can only assume, without knowing why.
I have a bumper sticker says “End corporate personhood”
That is wonderful to hear. There is a group called “Move to Amend” that has been fighting this diligently. I can only hope that they win, if not this is going to be another step in the downfall of America I am sad to say.
This is so accurate, sadly. Capitalism out of control is the same as fascism and communism – it is wrong!
Agreed, and unfortunately many don’t see it, they sit and cheer when the corporation tramples on individuals rights. Very sad indeed.

Thank you so much Jeremy, I am honored. 🙂
Welcome
…. is there anything more idiotic than *women* jumping up and down and cheering in front of the Supreme Court because of the H.L. decision? I stopped shopping there long ago – once I learned about their objections to the health care law – and I don’t plan to ever go back.
That’s a good thing. I wonder what would happen if all women boycotted the store…oops no more Hobby Lobby.
…. sadly, though … they have the “religious right” behind them and they are taught not to question. So it won’t sink Hobby Lobby. The best we can hope for is to hurt them a bit. Or … eventually … shame them a bit.
Then we need to get the court to reverse its decision and rescind Citizen’s United or better yet constitutionally ban it. The fact that OUR government has sold their souls to corporations really gets under my skin.
Have you read the whole Ginsburg dissent — I alluded to it in another comment — and it’s amazing. Wow. She reminds us of the following:
Chief Justice Marshall: a corporation is “an artificial being, invisible, intangible, and existing only in contemplation of law”
(Trustees of Dartmouth College v. Woodward, 1819)
Chief Justice Warren Burger: “When followers of a particular sect enter into commercial activity as a matter of choice, the limits they accept on their own conduct as a matter of conscience and faith are not to be superimposed on statutory schemes which are binding on others in that activity”.
(United States v. Lee, 1982.)
Justice John Paul Stevens: corporations “have no consciences, no beliefs, no feelings, no thoughts, no desires.”
(Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, 2010)
Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg: ““Again, the Court forgets that religious organizations exist to serve a community of believers. For-profit corporations do not fit that bill. … To reiterate, ‘for-profit corporations are different from religious non-profits in that they use labor to make a profit, rather than to perpetuate [the] religious value[s] [shared by a community of believers].’”
(Burwell v. Hobby Lobby, 2014, Dissenting)
Maybe Congress and our right-wing Supreme Court justices should read this…they might just learn something (like the law).
Amen…..!
What’s scary is that the next president has a good chance of replacing one or two justices. We’d better hope it’s not a far-far-far right wing president.
God I hope not, how about a couple of moderates…but what am I thinking…there is no such thing anymore.
Moderate? What is this ‘moderate” you speak of???? 😉
Ummm, I don’t know I must have been confused. 🙂
😉
Or what about this one, Dom?

Wow, how true this one is as well, I can’t wait to see what else gets shoved down our throats.
It’s pathetic, isn’t it?
Last one:
But … *none* of it really has to do with health care laws. It’s all about spiting the black president who shamed the GOP!
You are right and so is the image you sent. The flood gates have been opened and now we will see how bad the American worker gets it. I fear that as a country we are doomed and all at the hands of a government that is supposed to represent the individual.
Govt hasn’t represented the individual in ages; the “corporations are people” ruling sealed that fact – made it official. But sadly – the sheeple just refuse to see it. And some of them are the same people who will be hurt the most by these rulings!!!! And to those people I say:

You are absolutely correct. We haven’t been represented by our government for a very long time, but what amazes me is that so many people find this kind of behavior acceptable. It isn’t the President that is taking their rights away, but instead it is Congress with the backing of the Supreme Court. Pathetic in my opinion.
Extremely pathetic. And it’s Congress and the Supreme Court who have been bought out by special interests. It’s disgusting.
It certainly is and when they get called on it, those that call them out get called unpatriotic, just awful.
It’s ridiculous isn’t it? The whole “with or against us” // “like us or leave us” thing got so much worse after 9/11. It’s enough to drive a person insane. Insaner.
Agreed and actually I hate the word “patriotic” what exactly does that mean, nothing good as far as I can tell anymore.
As meaningless as “support the troops”. Support how? How about “supporting the troops by making darn well sure that each action is bloody well necessary”? Not just “wave a flag when we’re told to do so”.
That is right! Supporting our troops would not be using them for profit driven, self-serving wars under the guise of “freedom”. These wars had nothing to do with freedom and everything to do with oil and its ancillary businesses. Unfortunately in Iraq we were fed lies that led us to believe that the war had to do with securing “Weapons of Mass Destruction” that were in the possession of Saddam and what was found…nothing. Now look at the mess that is Iraq that the current administration has to deal with, but is getting “hammered” for. There is and was no logic to any of this. The “right” can try to justify their actions any way they would like, but there is no justification for any of it.
It’s a no-win situation — can’t just bail out, can’t keep feeding troops and “advisers” in — and the Pres. gets the blame and more and more people are killed and maimed every day. It’s ridiculous.
It certainly is…there is no way to win and if we were to pull out of every place we would be tagged isolationists. At times I wonder if that would not be such a bad idea.
…. well … history says that would be a bad thing. But …. I’m starting to doubt a lot of the “history” that we were taught. o.O
