We are still at war
Though it is invisible
To the naked eye
The media doesn’t care
Only the families do
Far away from home
Tears are shed–
With each phone call
Praying for good news
Or maybe no news at all.
They are alone with their fears

A war I am afraid will never end. 😦
I am afraid that it won’t either and we keep coming up with new “Wars on…” to fight against. Disgusting isn’t it? 😦
The drum beat of war is there.. You just need to find the soft beat.. This whole “children coming across the border is a red herring” We actually be distracted by this while other plans are being made…
I suppose that may be true, I can’t wait (well really I can) to see what they come up with next.
People die whether the cameras are rolling or not.
Thank you for this beautiful – but painful – reminder.
So true, it just bothers me that many people forget that we have soldiers abroad fighting and dying yet is seems that their sacrifice is not newsworthy. Thanks Jen.
People say that we should *not* take photos of caskets returning home — that we should *not* show the effects of war, have reporters embedded in the fighting — I say we have a responsibility to do so. But … what do I know.
I think we should as well. The realities of war are devastating and in their case ignorance is NOT bliss. Maybe if the realities were more widely know we would be less likely to commit acts of war. Just my opinion.
I agree. 🙂
