I’ve always found it odd when people say they are going to this place or that to “find themselves”. I had a cousin that said this and was going to travel across the country to California to find himself. Fortunately the day before he was going to leave he must have stumbled upon himself. In the end he never left and as a matter of fact still lives in virtually the same place that he started in. :)

It’s very much a Western ‘thing’ I don’t know any other culture which does this. Even Buddhism teaches the way to enlightenment is through introspection of Self. We are definitely an odd lot at times :)

We certainly are, you are right, the introspection of Self I for one believe is the correct path though western religions don’t directly teach that. :)
