Anger spilling o’er,
Flashes of violence burn
Though not sure it helps.
Those in authority point
Proclaiming, “See they are thugs!”
It’s not that simple!
Centuries of abuse live,
Their pain is not quelled,
Wounds scarred are ripped wide open,
Dried blood turns and flows freely.
We have learned nothing.
Seemingly daily there’s death
Because of color.
Where’s accountability?
It’s hidden behind a wall
…and that wall is blue.

I love this. You sure have a way with expressing such genuine emotion in your writing. Nice work.
Thank you Victor, I get very caught up in social issues and they spill out in my writing. I’m glad that you liked it.
I did very much, as I do all of your writing! 🙂
Thank you Victor. 🙂
Dom, powerful poem of social commentary. Very well written. Is it in reference to the riots?
It looks like my comment didn’t post. I’ll try to repeat it.

Yes it is, but in a much broader sense it has to do with the systematic racism that still thrives in this country. Thank you Elle.
I felt that, and caught the broad stroke of it, just wasn’t sure if it was in general or prompted because of the riots. It was a great write Dom!
Thank you for saying so Elle, I appreciate that.
A nasty choice of color but unfortunately history repeats itself. When will the uniforms realize that they have been caught from every angle possible. Somehow, blindness is not a discriminator when being hired. Nicely penned.
Thank you very much sir, I appreciate it. And I couldn’t agree more, the police do need to realize that whether they like it or not they are in a profession where they are going to be held to a higher standard and under a microscope, especially now with technology. If they can’t accept that then they need to find another line of work.
