Maybe I missed it…
When we became anointed
Rulers of the world,
Taking nation’s resources,
Conquering their citizens.
And tell me for what?
Could it be for our profit
As it always is?
All the savages be damned
They can’t stop us anyway!
But the refugees,
The wars and the violence…
This isn’t our fault.
Why take blame for our actions
When you can blame someone else.

Excellent final question. Seems we’re more inclined to blame others or ignore a problem instead of finding a solution.
That is true. What really bothers me is that we repeatedly create problems in this world and then we back away from them like we had nothing to do with it. No wonder half of the world hates us. Thanks Charles.

The United States of American is who this is about I’m sad to say William.
I sincerely wonder who the world police will turn out to be, Dom. The script is not yet finished! Goodnight, friend.
I honestly don’t know, but we certainly don’t we should be obligated to be the worlds policeman and absolutely not for the reasons that we have done it in the past. Profit and oil are terrible and dangerous reasons in my opinion.
Of course you are right in what you say as far as it goes, but there are forces in the world with more power than mere armament!
I wouldn’t disagree at all, we are proving it by showing that there are almost no lengths we won’t do in order to make a profit. Look at Halliburton almost no one profited more from the war in Iraq than them.
Rats in the congress?

It is sad, but is seems to be a path that we are having difficulty getting off of. I just wonder when it will end.
It probably will not but we are free to get off the merry go round and hopefully more will do the same all over the world.

While I wholeheartedly applaud you for introspecting, I wonder if there’s soul searching happening at the other end, too? It’s not always your fault, there are provocations & a need for you to get involved sometimes. I agree you’re in the conundrum of being the most looked up to & the most hated nation at the same time and sadly coz of you not walking the talk when it comes your values, the very thing that makes America so great.
Perhaps you are right, I suppose that only time will tell. All I know is that our current state of affairs did not begin with President Obama he just happens to be the latest caretaker. Thank you for your thoughtful comment Kunal, it is greatly appreciated.
