Bitter and nauseating is the taste of blame
Often stirred by our misguided spirit–ego.
Detesting others with fortune and fame
Until ones jealousy doth flourishing, grows.
.
Little good does it serve to another accuse;
Rotting heart and soul to the core.
Resulting in pain and the minds terrible abuse,
Living in darkness ‘til every fiber doth abhor.
.
Does harboring this envy, one deadly sin
Heal what you view as improper nay unjust?
This frailty so human caused all ills begin
Diminishing our ability to trust.
.
What profit can be gained from hatred ingrained,
But to torture our souls until loves power doth refrain.

December Seventh
Pearl Harbor was attacked
Do they still teach this
Or has it been lost to years
And the holiday season

Heartfelt forgiveness
Should be our aspiration
Not just empty words
The lesson passed before us
I hope we weren’t distracted

What was his worth?
To many–he was priceless,
No pearl, no diamond could compare.
Behind bars…
Or taking in the breaths of freedom
He was unshakable.
Even in the face of all that was stolen from him
He shone with the light of forgiveness.
All of this done with a burning hope,
A hope for progress,
For justice,
For equality,
For the death of apartheid.
Fighting with the weapons of peace
His was not just a fight for his people,
But a fight against all the wrongs plaguing humanity.
Noble, to be honored, cherished, thanked, missed…
What was his worth?
Far more than these words could possibly speak.
Farewell Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela,
…You will not, you must not be forgotten.

Proponent for the poor as the Good Book says,
Obeying the word divinely inspired in antiquity.
Practicing that which has for so long been preached,
Even amongst ever growing unpopularity.
Finally–perhaps a corner has been turned,
Revealing a man worthy of this sacrosanct reign.
Allowing himself to be humbled as others had not learned;
Nursing those whose lives epitomize great pain.
Could his motives be this solemn and pure
Iesvs Nazarenvs Rex Ivdaeorvm so commanded;
Saving of souls through teaching assured,
…this as our God has demanded.

Any more would be selfish

My past calls my name
Like an enemy taunting
Craving reaction
But the words fade to silence
On the reinvented me

So much tragedy in words withheld
Than to words we are beholden.
Silence cuts deeper than forest trees felled
To those held more precious and golden.
.
We wait for tomorrow as if plenty of time
Assuming the other must know.
What lies in our hearts, our feelings sublime
Saying one day that surely we’ll show.
.
Until such a time that love grows apart
Blinded by such a surprise.
Mending of passion, where do we start
With tears welling up in our eyes.
.
Speak your true mind and follow hearts lead,
Ne’er to be lead astray if it’s guidance you heed.
