Both sides of a coin
Agony and ecstasy
Which one will it be

I’ve been called foolish
Unconventional, dreamer
Happiness abounds
Maybe that is my secret
To living a joy filled life

Rough waters recede
Leaving stillness in its wake
Ebb and flow of life

In the angriest sky
Peace doth prevail.
Her rains, the tenderest kiss
Baptizing this poor sinner.
Look not upon her in dismay,
For beyond her blackness is light.
A serenity beyond outward appearance
Offered to thee if thine eyes you will open.
All is not as bleak as thou believest,
Thy turmoil is but momentary,
Soon to depart if thou wilt allow,
Affording ingress to a brighter day.

Has there not been enough killing, enough hate
All centered around religious faith?
Perhaps kindness and love would be a better solution;
Plying our ingenuity to the pursuits of peace and joy
Instead of weapons of human destruction.
Never has there been such a proliferation!
Ever more I believe the right path is unfettered love,
Something we are born with, but many of us lose through cynicism.
Strive to regain it and you may witness the rebirth of childlike joy.

I, of spirit walk
With others on this journey
Each with their troubles
Their torment is also mine
For life is not a vacuum

Thank you blessed life
Though full of tribulation
I am most happy
Yes, there is much I could have
But I’m in want of nothing

The sun still rose as I knew it would,
The birds sang their songs,
The winds blew strong,
The grass remained green just as it should.
In dawns dim light I opened my eyes,
My wife lay sleeping by my side,
My children in the next rooms reside,
All of these cause joy in my heart to rise.
The waters flow cooling parched earth,
The skies still a brilliant shade of blue,
The flowers bloom as they always do,
These more valuable than material worth.
Life continues like every other day,
As it has O’ these fifty years on,
Caring not the least as each new day dawns,
For it knows no other way.
I guess I’m just part of this natural flow,
Arriving then passing with time,
Like the bird and the beast and the tree and the vine,
I’ll receive my calling to go.

Some say it is a window into the soul,
But me…well, I don’t know
I run, I jump, I laugh and cajole
As though I’m putting on a show.
The youth in me knows not this bodies age,
Ignoring the aches and the pains.
Like a Mad Hatter on the Phantoms stage,
Tossing aside my horses reins.
Playing in the grass, flying kites high in the sky,
Living for just having fun.
Juvenile maybe, lets just say that I try,
Hoping for much longer from where I’d begun.
This is how I choose to live a fairytale life,
One of fullness, prosperity and joy.
Living without the stress and the mind numbing strife,
That so many chose to employ.
Then a look in the mirror reveals an inevitable truth,
That no one can run from their age.
Bags and wrinkles are not things of one’s youth,
As each year turns the next page.
In my minds eye I’m still the same person I was
O’ those many years gone by.
Only the blind would be ignorant of the cause,
No matter how hard they may try.
So the moral to this story is one I believe
To live in happiness and in peace.
Keep the child in your heart, never to cleave,
And your elation will surely increase.
