Awash In The Swamp

Awash in the swamp, he’d supposed to drain

His promises proved lies now shown;

Oligarchs and thieves fall down as the rain

Your hopes and your dreams turned to stone.

We told you, we told you not to believe

This carnival barker cloaked in Versace;

Give it some time as I’m certain you’ll grieve

With your tears as they spoil your latte.

Prepare for the change that will turn back our time

To an age where our rights had no rights;

It’s you that will suffer for your ignorant crime

My greatest hopes’ that you lose sleep at night,

You’ve sold out our country with no care for her souls and left it in the hands of a jackal.

I hope you are happy as he rakes us o’er the coals while he and his ilk writhe and cackle.

Cross Fruited Plains The Wind Doth Blow

Cross fruited plains the wind doth blow

Though it seems we’ve lost our way.

When it will stop no one can know,

But it’s unlikely on that November day.

Our founders could not have foreseen the show

We see all around the clock.

Trump and Clinton round and round they go

For neither election’s a lock.

For one the issues seem no value to hold,

The other is wonky and stiff.

The first is cocky or so he’s been told,

Second each victory’s a gift

What have we done to get to this point, I really don’t know what to say.

This election is one that’s sure to disappoint, for the ones that don’t get their way.

How Did We Arrive On This Vile Path

How did we arrive on this vile path

Where fiction and fantasy meet?

Justified in spewing their putrid rath

In droves before our feet.

They peddle not, in truth tis true

But little this seems to matter.

Sooner or later this stance they’ll rue

Once their illusions are shattered.

Never shall I understand the blind allure

Of a pompous and childish ass.

To lead the free world with temperament sure

There’s no room for any morass.

Dark are the days ahead for us, a once great and powerful nation.

For empires become superfluous, with righteous indignation.

Angry Thorns Of Blood Red Rose

Angry thorns of blood red rose

What seething lies behind grace?

A gorgeous vessel hollow knows

Deception lives in their space.

Flawless in another’s eyes

Believing what we think we see.

Behind closed doors this angel cries

Wishing to only be free.

Prisons reveal in many forms

Hiding ugliness on the inside.

Keeping contained the tempests storm

‘Til emotions and rage collide.

Then you will see the fragile soul living with torment and fear,

Begging for mercy to fill the hole that now shows so visibly clear.

A Tender Kiss I Leave For Thee

A tender kiss I leave for thee

Upon thy cheek when you wake,

This day I leave on turbulent sea

Where chances are thy lover take.

Sheddeth not a sorrow-filled tear

Thine heart belongs the thee through time,

Though watery grave my end I fear

‘Tis enough to know thine heart is mine.

Pray for thee my lover pure

In this our night of last embrace,

Though parted love survives I’m sure

In memory of thy angelic face.

Thine smile comforts as farewell I bid, for journey toward mysterious lands,

Thy strength in sorrow thou surely hid, as gently you kiss my trembling hands.

Ageless and Timeless My Love Art Thee (Sonnet)

Ageless and timeless my love art thee,

Perfection alive in human form.

Til the day my last breath I do finally breathe,

I vow to protect thee storm.

This promise I made to thee so long ago,

To this day I have ne’er forgotten.

Before God in Heaven on knee I did show,

Thanks for the path I’ve long trodden.

Honor me now to be thine til the end,

I ask with a heart that is true.

My feelings for thee shalt not break nor will bend,

Til death when we bid fond adieu.

Know that each day I cherish this gift, spent with my hand in your hand.

I take not for granted on retribution swift, my love to an island you strand.

In This Time Of Tragedy, It Does My Heart Good (Sonnet)

In this time of tragedy, it does my heart good,

To see peoples so diverse as allies.

Evil’s terror brings unity, just as it should,

With “Je suis Charlie” their defiant battle cry.

How must it have felt staring fate in the face

When our wrath brought their final curtain call.

Surely their God, will not bring them to grace

Instead down to Hell they must fall.

What God could condone their horrible acts,

Murdering innocents over Charlie’s cartoon.

Under guise of offense, an excuse for attacks,

Their cause becomes fodder for lampoon.

So pray on this day and stand steadfast as one, for us all they cannot defeat.

To live by the gun is to die by the gun, let us hope this will never repeat.

Calloused Heart (Sonnet)

Calloused heart, fear not my advances please,

Harm, no harm shalt ever I impart.

Wouldst I have journeyed o’er these seven seas,

Courting thee in earnest right from the start.

My solemn promise to thee I offer, lest I die,

Taking thy hand within mine.

A chance I do ask that you givest love a try,

Lest I return to the seas and her watery brine.

Thou hast been injured, I knowest this for sure,

Sympathies assuredly do I give.

Purest of love doth I prescribe as the cure,

I swearest for as long as I live.

Never shalt this heart ever part they fragile side, this I do promise to thee.

Affection do I pledge and swearth not to hide, devoted to thee for eternity.

Deeply I Reach Into The Inner Well (Sonnet)

Deeply I reach into the inner well

In search of peace and love.

Picking it up from where it fell

I push it back up with a shove.

Caught up in emotion of circumstance,

Surrounded by sadness and gloom.

Needing to take a more positive stance

Away from feelings of impending doom.

Emotions running far too high,

My health will be paying the price.

If I don’t allow my anxiety to fly

The outcome won’t be so nice.

So time, it has come to put anger away and connect with the spiritual me,

Hoping this time it will come home to stay and at last I’ll be finally free.

Roses Thorn (Sonnet)

Roses thorn–savage call,
Reminds how fragile thy love.
Thy bloodless drop of tears they fall,
Tainting thy ivory dove.

In sorrow, my sorrow I beg repent,
Thy pain hast no place in my heart.
I pray to God relief be sent,
Promise never again to take part.

On bended knee I pray thou forgive,
I never meant to perpetrate such pain.
Promise do I for as long as I live,
Or be damned to eternity of shame.

Dearest Rose, beautiful Rose, my thorns I know I must quell.
Revealing my heart to thee who must know, or forever be banished to hell.
