Can You Smell The Winds Of Change

Can you smell the winds of change?

Not confined by border or ethnicity;

It cares not about race, creed or color.

For so long the grass has been trampled,

Crushed under ornate boot heels,

Mowed down by the sharpest of blades

With no thought of the consequences.

Resilience is the way of nature.

Young shoots and saplings rebound,

They cannot be kept down.

Can you smell the winds of change

As they comes for you?

Your palaces and coffers cannot protect you,

Shuttered windows cannot save you,

We are not fooled by your fained sympathy,

Looking us in the eyes from marbled balconies

And lying through your yellowed teeth.

You do not know our condition!

You do not know our pain

As yours are the boots that have ground us to dust!

Take your hollow words and scream into the wind.

Choke on the vomit you spew,

Knowing that the end is near

And it is you that will be crushed

For all of the harm that you have done.

Revolution

Release the downtrodden

Ever held captive by the oligarchs

Voices stifled by their greed

Only the masses can free them

Let loose on the monsters that key their shackles

Until this is realized nothing will change

Take heed of these words

Indulge in their wisdom as our fathers foretold

Only then will we regain what has been lost

Never to lose it again…unless we revel in comfort

From Heaven Falls Tears

From Heaven falls tears

Washing man’s filth from this earth.

Is that not called love?

Could any Father do more

To heal wounds of his children?

He weeps for our souls,

Our loss of humanity

Once gifted to us,

Dismissed in lieu of greed

Yet denied by the greedy.

Is this not our way,

To walk through life in blindness

Avoiding our flaws?

Then in our reckoning hour

We beg for His forgiveness.

How foolish we are

Destroying so many lives

All for bits of gold.

In the end what did this buy,

But a road leading to Hell.

Capitalism

Can you imagine a country;

A system where money…

Profit is its religion,

I certainly can.

Take a look at what we’ve become

America, owned by corporations

Leaving its citizens rummage through their trash.

Is this what the promise was

Suffering under the greed of oligarchs?

Maybe not, but this is precisely who we are.

Things of Dreams, of Hopes

Things of dreams, of hopes,

This life I live and all that I have,

The promise of America, a ghost long dead.

Stripped of humanity, stripped of dignity, I see the pain in her eyes;

Mine tear for her, for the psychopath she has become,

She hates her children, punishing them for their ignorance.

But who is to blame, we’ve offered our souls to the Devil with each election,

Perpetuating our own destruction, more of the same does not breed change.

Perhaps I am guilty as any choosing to write as my protest.

Is my hope to inspire sufficient?

Only time will tell.

Pondering Things

Pondering things more now than ever

I’m finding out how little I know.

I don’t understand human nature;

Its incessant need for power,

Its unquenchable greed,

Its innate ability to hate,

Its thirst to subjugate others.

Look no farther than the news;

War is spreading at a rapid pace,

Our young men and women are sent to fight,

For what…our freedom?

Only true if freedom flows from a pump.

Their blood is being exchanged for oil,

Sounds criminal unless you are a capitalist.

Poverty is running rampant,

The rich are getting richer

While the middle-class drowns

And the poor are being mowed under.

Our children are sunk into debt

For the privilege of an education.

Education is not a privilege but a right,

Only a fool would think otherwise…

You laugh…

Well then, a fool I must be!

With no where else to turn

We look toward the government,

Corrupt, divisive, they are of no help.

No! Don’t dare pull the party card,

Your blind faith in either cesspool is deplorable.

Don’t think for a second that they care about us,

Most of us don’t have the money to buy that kind of loyalty.

These behemoths only tolerate us because they have to.

Lobbyists and corporations are their real audience

Purchasing the destruction of our environment,

Sending our jobs overseas,

Corralling wealth for the pleasure of the minority

All for the destruction of the majority.

We…are…expendable!

In the end, what do I know?

I know what this country…this world could be,

It wouldn’t take much,

Just a little love,

A little compassion,

A little humanity,

But then…I am a dreamer

Who just realized…

How little I really know.

Hawk Soars, Doing What It Was Born To Do

Hawk soars, doing what it was born to do.

What does he see, but his next meal…a path to procreation,

Nothing personal, it is a simple means of survival…

Prolongation of the species.

Is not man much the same, feeding on the weaker of the species?

In the end he is nothing more than an animal;

Carnivorous in more than his primal appetite,

Feasting on flesh and blood of the lesser to satisfy its needs…

Perpetuation of his own.

We claim to be of a higher ilk, greater than the common beast,

But we fool ourselves, we are nothing more than a bipedal wildebeest

Living up to Darwin’s own theory…

Survival of the fittest.
