Darkness approaches
Yet we don’t see it coming.
We have been lied to,
Betrayed by our government.
Still…many among us cheer.
Maybe I’m confused
When those affected revel.
Blindly happy;
Ignoring their own demise
…One day soon the sky will fall.
~~ Dominic R. DiFrancesco ~~
I can most certainly relate to this one!
Great poem Dom!
Thank you very much Shelby, I really appreciate that.
So true! I am worried that they aren’t telling us even a bit of the truth.
It’s likely that they aren’t, they are playing us for fools, very sad.
I think it comforts most people to have a day of escapism, happy Independence Day Dom.
Thank you Gilly, it turned out to be a pretty good weekend. 🙂
We need to stock up on lots and lots of candles. And batteries;)
I sure hope not, but who knows. 🙂
The way things are going… the sky seems to be destined to fall for the entire world. Powerful writing.
And we miss you at Heeding Haiku With HA prompts. Hope you would visit and participate with us again. 🙂
Thank you Ha, I will be back very soon, I’ve just had a hectic few weeks and haven’t been around as much as I would like to be.
You must want to land up in a re- education camp… Wait FEMA camp. You know the ones where the barbed wire is facing in not out… our government never lies to us… Wait someone is knocking on my door:) oh it’s two men…brb
I probably will wind up in one if the NSA is listening to me. Bolt your door and shut out the lights, maybe they will go away. 🙂
I am confused too, Dom.
Well written.
Dom — you should read this guy’s posts.

This a incredible post that hits the problem dead on. Capitalism and inequality will be our downfall. Thanks for pointing me to this.
You’re very welcome 🙂
You know Dom, I’ve travelled the world and I’ve often seen this happen … it’s really crazy. A couple of year ago I read some of Alexis de Torqueville’s Democracy in American … very insightful and helped me understand the root of the problem. Here’s a wikipedia link about him which includes a brief review on his Democracy in America … http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexis_de_Tocqueville
I am somewhat familiar with Torqueville, but his writings on “Democracy in America” was less familiar to me. The section on “Democracy and New Forms of Tyranny” is exactly what is going on in America today. Very enlightening and frightening at the same time. Thank you for sharing the link with me.
Yes, when I read him I was surprised at how prophetic his observations really were. I’d known him in name only … I too found his writings to be both enlightening and frightening!
He clearly could see the future, it’s just too bad that we couldn’t. 😦
Easier to see things from a distance?
Most definitely.
That political dark cloud is very ugly…
It certainly is and scary as well.
