Storms (A Lover’s Story)

Storms are not relegated just to the sky,

They’re raging on in lover’s eyes.

Torrents of lust and passions bold,

In each others arms their instincts hold.

Control and thoughts most surely fleet,

As pheromones lead them off their feet.

Entwined their hearts will finally merge,

Giving in to primitive animal urge.

In shuddering release the stars ignite,

No longer capable of offering up a fight.

With tender caress the lovers complete,

Off they drift to sleeps retreat.

Filleted Flesh From Bone

Filleted flesh from bone

Cut by separations blade

My love so distant

Pain so intense I’m in tears

Draining blood from heart and soul

When will my wounds mend

When will tears finally dry

When will torment end

Reuniting with my love

Never again torn apart

Glass So Delicate Easily Breaks (Sonnet)

Glass so delicate easily breaks

Throwing, dropping–it matters not

A million shards will be its fate

Not unlike the tender heart

.

When handled coarsely it slowly bleeds

Crimson tears that may never heal

A gentle touch is what it needs

Embraced by passionate lovers feel

.

Absent the heart will surely shred

Perhaps forever left in ruin

All hope for love is left for dead

What remains of the heart are strewn

.

That which is fragile must be treated with care or damage permanent may be done

For the passion of lovers is something they share on their journey to meld into one

O’ Silvery Ghost

O’ silvery ghost

Muted light bathes tear-stained cheeks

Shed for my lost love

I beg you–grant me mercy

As I mourn my selfish loss

I was not worthy

Offering only safety

While she offered love

Blame squarely sits upon me

As I fade into the night

How Terrible To Be Separated From One’s Love (Acrostic)

How terrible to be separated from one’s love,

Oceans mocking with their insurmountable gauntlet;

Praying on the tender heart as if expendable.

Elicit my wrath you vile beast!

Love conquers all or so the saying goes,

End your repeated assaults on star-crossed lovers

So that those destined to be united might consume.

Save your sour vengeance for hell,

Releasing us to our burning desires.

Over your objections we shall conquer.

My steel shall slaughter your thirst

And leave us to our own destiny.

Neither man nor beast shall stand in our path,

This I vow until my last breath.

I love you, shall be written in the stars

Completing our journey destined by the Creator.

AUTHOR’S NOTE:  This poem was inspired by Julian Froment and the poem he posted today to his love, Ionia Martin.  I have found it very sad that these two people have to live separate lives when they are obviously destined to be together.  I hope that whatever is keeping them apart is resolved very soon.

Love Unspoken Envelops Me In Joy (Sonnet)

Love unspoken envelops me in joy,

Beyond words, you and I have grown.

True to the heart this is not a ploy,

Thoughts and actions my passions have shown.

.

I need not a word to know that you’re there,

Trials and tribulations have proven faith.

Through good and bad together we’ve shared,

By my side you stayed so unlike a wraith.

.

My love, love though fickle it be,

Cannot deceive once newness fades.

In you in silence your tenderness I see,

With an affection strong as balustrades.

.

Product of time is this comfortable skin,

One I would never shed to begin again.

Hearts In Fondness (Sonnet)

Hearts in fondness through distance do grow

Realizing in separation what for granted they take.

Something only two true lovers would know,

The commitment to each other the couple did make.

.

Irrational though sometimes the heart may appear

It knows what it wants without the logic of mind.

Enveloping in love the one held most dear

Just as it did at the beginning of their time.

.

Fickle they say is the lovers true love;

Blind to the dangers that lurk just beyond.

Intentions more pure than the whitest of doves,

Laid bare for the unfaithful their heart to abscond

.

Though pitfalls abound on this journey of the ages,

Not one thing would I change as this book turns its pages.

A Ghostly Apparition (Sonnet)

A ghostly apparition on shoreline I spied,

Pacing to and fro through deep hours of night.

I thought from my window I captured her cry

From what must have been a terrible fright.

Dressed all in white from an era long gone

Stream of tears from my eyes I did shed.

Distress in her step and the pipers last song

This lover to her death must’ve led.

Legend exists of a star-crossed romance

Ending in the most tragic of ways.

They claim it occurred by strange circumstance

Young lovers they drowned in the bay.

When the shock finally passed nothing, but sorrow did I feel

There was nothing I could offer for her wounds I could not heal.

Sing To Me

Sing to me–

WIth gentle breaths

The song I know so well.

To this melody my heart races;

Like the wings of the hummingbird

Beating ever faster to keep pace with your song.

Oh how your crescendo leaves me breathless!

Words can scarcely describe

As I await the triumphant end.

You– the seasoned maestro hold the wand;

Each wave a note closer to the finale.

How masterful you are in your genius,

While I…awestruck,

Am captivated by love.

Is Love What We Think (Tanka)

Is love what we think

An emotion of the heart

Or is it a flaw

A flaw of human nature

Opening us to sorrow
