Taken for Granted (Tanka)

Taken for granted
Love–over many long years
Assumed without words
Like breathing…done thoughtlessly
We think it will never end

Wake To Tender Touch (Tanka)

Wake…to tender touch

Offered free in lovers glow

Gently from my soul

In the kindness of your smile

I find sweet serenity

Given Any Choice (Tanka)

Given any choice
It would be no choice at all
You would be the one
Though we are separated
My heart chooses only you

Love’s Storm

Love’s storm crashes

Upon the rocky shore of my heart.

Teasing blood and soul

Into tumultuous sea.

Catching each drop in the riptide;

Dragging it under,

Caressing it with tender arms,

Diluting the pain

Until two become fused.

One heart and one soul;

Fluid as the raging storm

That is our love.

Sweetness Fills The Air

Sweetness fills the air;

Scent of lilac and jasmine

Infused in my soul.

Like the tenderest embrace

You and I have become one.

Is this not true love,

The truest love known to man;

Eternally bound,

Two star-crossed lovers

Hearts beating in unison?

I say that it is!

Our bond cannot be broken,

Deaths grip holds no sway,

Matters of the heart survive

Beyond this mortal world

And into the next.

Our passions destiny,

Impenetrable;

Is our armor and our strength,

Warding off those who chastise.

Simple Phrase

The simple phrase, “I love you.”,

Not to be worn on the bottom of a shoe.

When said to another it must be true,

Or angers wrath will most surely ensue.

~

Far too often it’s said most light,

The words flow free without a fight.

All in attempt to bed at night,

With no qualms of wrong or right.

~

What happened to the time it was hard to say,

Waiting, obsessing for many a day.

Rehearsing the moment in so many ways,

Knees getting weak, wobble and sway.

~

“I love you.” has power over human heart,

Think before speaking this phase you start.

If said without meaning the two will part,

The heart will break and soul depart.

~

Handle with care these mystical words,

If not heartfelt they’re best deferred.

Emotions strained, feelings stirred,

“I love you.” must be mutually incurred.

Draw Near

Draw near cherished one,

To feel you close nourishes me,

Feeding heart and soul

No greater love has there been,

Than that between you and I.

The touch, skin on skin,

Warm, soft, moist, us intertwined,

Locked, passionate kiss;

Bodies tight as we become one,

One heart, one soul, forever.

Love’s Dance – A Tanka

Breath– your lips on mine

Warm and moist against my skin

Every nerve dancing

Calling ecstasy by name

In our love’s coital dance

Truest of Loves

Catapult my feelings to the sky

Scattered to poles by twisting winds

Revealed my heart so you may lie

Within my arms, true love begins

~

To you my words no justice do

My tongue in knots, I make no sense

Conduct portrays my emotions true

Offered up with no presumed pretense

~

I choose to pose my love in verse

Too shy to speak these heartfelt words

My love exposed, flowery and terse

In these my heart is garishly heard

~

I have no qualms in sharing my soul

It was meant at birth to be given to you

Without your hand I’ll never be whole

Through God and my faith I construe

~

Distress me no more with nary response

This agony more torturous than death

Mutter your reply, I urge you at once

Before drawing in my final breath.
