I don’t think this idea could be any kind of fashion that could go out of style. It’s here to stay.

Thank you Martha. I guess I just don’t understand it. I was always raised to believe that you never, ever hit a woman and I have lived by that belief all of my life, but clearly that doesn’t hold true for everyone. I look at it this way, I am 6’4″ tall and 250 pounds…if I were to punch my wife who is 5’2′ I could without a doubt, seriously hurt her or kill her, that is just a terrible thing to think about. What really gets me though is, for example in the current case of Ray Rice, these two people were not married at the time of this horrendous assault, yet she then went on to marry him anyway…I guess this is the epitome of love being blind. I just truly hope that he can be rehabilitated to the point that this never happens again, for her sake. I know this is a really touchy subject, one that I am not well versed in, but I don’t know that one has to be to know that it is wrong.

It’s hard to understand something whether you’ve had extensive experience with it or not. Mostly because you can’t think of a reason where you would do the same and so can’t understand the thought process that made it okay to do so for others.

You are absolutely right, I can’t see an instance where punching, verbally abusing, mentally abusing or any other form of violence against a woman is justifiable. It is just beyond my comprehension.

Or against anyone else, not just women.

Thank you Steve for saying so. With the frequency of this type of behavior I worry that we have lost our moral compass as a society, such a shame.

I know, it absolutely is a crime. I can’t believe that people (even women) can justify this type of crime as a private affair, it just boggles my mind.

It reminds me a bit of school bullying… a person who bullies is usually not a very happy camper…why not focus on that person too …being ostracized is not going to heal any wounds that need mending.

Domestic abuse has, I imagine , always been around. Never goes out of fashion with some. Never justified in any time period.
