He’s Called By Many Names

He’s called many names

God, Rom, Allah, Krishna, Christ

All are names of peace

It’s man who is violent

Not the Gods whom they worship

Homeland

Hate for this word runs deep,

Ominous…reminiscent of the Nazis.

Men’s cruelty at its worst…

Even now I shiver at the thought.

Luther never dreamed of it in his day.

America, are we on the path to radical nationalism?

Never has there been a more dangerous thing,

Deutschland’s history…I pray it never repeats.

Is There A Cause

Is there a cause in the name of God worthy of cruelty.

Man seeks ever more horrific ways to slaughter

Proclaiming, “This is the will of God.”

Show me where it is written that this is His command.

It is nothing more than a grab for power,

A subjugation of the populace through a reign of terror…

Your mortal motives impure.

Defend your beheading of the innocent,

Defend your burning of the living for the world to see.

How does this bolster your cause?

All you serve to do is alienate through your merciless violence.

You are looked down upon as animals,

A scourge on the face of this planet to be eradicated.

Lay down your sabres, holster your guns,

Draw down and retreat into the background,

Live in peace.

No further murders need be committed,

If you become silent

And listen to the gentle words of your God.

Vultures Every One

Vultures every one, they pluck at the carcass.

Oh yes, it is dead and has been for some time,

But they choose to masquerade it in lively rhetoric.

Speaking not of how they will resuscitate the corpse

They prefer to spew bile at those they accuse of murdering it.

Solving nothing, they offer up a civics lesson as hope,

A promise of a return to days long gone by.

They know this can never be,

That we should never return to the cesspool of the past that got us here,

Still they desire with a selfish heart, to thrust this upon us.

No longer a land, by the people, of the people, for the people,

We have devolved into a country of the corporation,

By the corporation, for the corporation.

Our politicians, beholden to these behemoths disregard the people,

Believing their constituents too inept to notice.

Sadly, our elections show they are too often right.

Seats of government are filled with crazies, radicals and thieves

Looking to promote their own self-interests,

Their own delusional ideals,

The interests of those that bought their loyalty.

Their records show nothing but opposition to the other side,

No compromise, no debate, just blatant obstruction,

This they do, all the while claiming to be patriots and waving their tattered flags.

Perhaps we are as much to blame for this violent death as they.

Each vote cast inflicts another gangrenous wound on this once vibrant body.

I fear it too late for meaningful change.

Our young prefer social media and video games to interest in things political.

What the future holds is anyones guess,

But with crystal ball in hand I foretell a funeral, the body in shrouds,

No taps being played, no mourners present to pay their last respects,

They can’t because they are too busy texting and watching youtube to notice.

Consternation Kills

Consternation kills;

Turning inward the faint heart,

Swallowing them whole.

Such is the fear mongers goal,

To scare the masses to death.

Played time and again,

Fear worse than reality,

Still we never learn.

There is great strength in numbers

If we’d only stand as one.

Terrorists (Acrostic)

They only win if you live in fear

Envisioning terror around every turn

Red, blood red keeps you awake at night

Rendered by the media and the radical’s might

Only you can stem this terrible tide

Ridding the world of their plague that imbibes

Impending doom is what they so desire

Stifling of hope for a future that’s bright

Tell them their end lies in the approaching hour

Standing as one–their fates are most dire

With Rage Filled Falsetto

With rage filled falsetto,

The sword they did swing.

Exuding pure hatred,

As the metal blade did ring.

Their gesture surely proved,

Cruel motives not of God.

Over all the legions of bodies,

Their evil boots do trod.

How meaningless their killings,

Of brothers of the Quran.

All others considered infidels,

In this–God’s promised land.

While radiation bleaches,

The dead down to their bones.

Plaster’s painted red,

By blood spilled in their homes.

ISIS claims their quest,

God commanded of their troops.

While really it’s about power,

And the subjugating of groups.

Capturing the palaces,

The baroque and gaudy estates.

Feasting on the finest,

On gold and silver plates.

They pledge that no longer,

Will dormancy exist.

The caliphate will rise,

And rule with an iron fist.

Every living thing,

Will cower under their command.

Geese and sheep and camel,

And the people of this land.

Sadly violence met with violence,

May be the only way this stops.

Freeing terrorized citizens

To return to their farms and shops.

While nations far and wide,

Debate their horrid fate.

One nation no matter how imperfect

Stepped in before it was too late.

We lost one of our own,

One who never fought.

We pray that your death

Will not be all for naught.

The best thing we can do,

To honor your needless loss

Is to bravely stay the course,

And win at any cost.

Mindlovemisery's Menagerie - Wordle #22

Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie – Wordle #22

Prompt: Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie – Wordle #22

Violence Begets Violence

Violence begets violence,

Through blood and terrible pain.

Hatred begets hatred,

With every fallen name.

Actions in this moment

Last for generations to come

Long after reasons forgotten

Our passions still succumb.

Perpetuating animus

At the cost of innocent life

Caught in the crossfire

Stainless victims of this strife.

Given a moment of thought

Or a look in a childs face.

Would we be so rash

To kill instead of embrace.

Perhaps someday great wisdom

Will seed the hearts of man.

To recognize the evil

Exacted since time began.

The hope for lasting peace

Lives in my fondest dreams.

Though unlikely in this lifetime

Nor ever so it seems.
