Race wars,
Culture wars,
Gender wars,
Drug wars,
War on freedom,
War on religion,
War on women,
War on drugs,
War on crime,
War on terror,
War, war, war–do you see the pattern!
Still we call ourselves peace-loving,
We call ourselves civilized.
Fighting against each other,
Fighting against our beliefs,
Fighting against enemies of our own design,
Intolerance of one another,
Physical and verbal violence
Waged against our own and the world,
Tell me–what is peace-loving and civilized about this?
We have been brainwashed–
Brainwashed by our government,
Brainwashed by the media,
Brainwashed by our own ignorance!
We continue this spiral into oblivion,
Year after year,
Decade after decade,
Century after century
As so many have done before us.
Perhaps one day we will learn
That constant war tires and diminishes a people
Until eventually they plunge into the abyss of history
–Under the weight of their own arrogance.

Don’t forget the War on Christmas. I’m pretty sure this country has overused the term by now.
You are absolutely right, I suppose the “war on” phrase has been far overused. It seems like anytime there is something someone doesn’t like or if they don’t get their way with something they believe in they pull out the “war on” card. It’s crap as far as I am concerned.
I agree. It’s entirely to stir emotions. Recently, it seems to be a blatantly manipulative tactic.
It is a manipulative tactic based on scaring the masses into supporting violent actions, it really is ridiculous.
All wars on _ _ _ fail…
I agree…how about striving for peace, wouldn’t that be more productive.
You said a mouthful.
Thank you, I hope that it wasn’t too much.
It wasn’t too much. You voiced what I’ve felt many times.I interpreted it to mean more than just war. What is war? It’s imposing one’s (or a country’s) will over another person (country) by force.
Cracking poem, unfortunately so true. Thanks
Another piece that I wish I didn’t feel the need to write. Thank you my friend.
wow. powerful. true. wonderfully written.
Thank you very much, I appreciate that.
So very important words with incredible meaning!! We are on the brink and we’d better back up! Thank you for your work it’s always an inspiration!
It doesn’t seem like things are getting any better. It is even worse today.
Just the other day – I lost it with the war on…
It’s been a stressful & busy week. And – when I heard something on a news bit on gay marriage – I just went off at the tv. I am so tired of people holding prejudices against the differences of others. Just so tired of it all.
What ever happen to freedom and equality for all. It clearly is still a dream, very sad.
