History (An Acrostic)

How is it that mankind never learns

Images of the past are destined to repeat themselves

Since the beginning of time this has been true

The great, seemingly invincible, eventually fall

Obsessed with their own self-importance

Rarely realize they are collapsing under their own weight

Yielding the inevitable return to the dust from which they were created

  1. I think you have hit it on the head. Everyone new that comes along thinks they can beat the odds. Has what it takes. Life demands attrition in all forms and all walks of life. It is the natural order that is inherent in the change of seasons. A life cycle of our keeping track of time.Very good.>KB

  2. Acrostics don’t get nearly enough use. I think humans always think things will be different when they try. Like jumping off a cliff, but I’ll survive because I flap my arms instead of screaming in terror.
