Sleep is but a pit
Black, void of anything real
What is all the hype
Dreams do not exist for all
Some simply sleep in darkness

Sleep is but a pit
Black, void of anything real
What is all the hype
Dreams do not exist for all
Some simply sleep in darkness
~~ Dominic R. DiFrancesco ~~
Seeking of lotus
A position elusive
To the stiff novice

A muted sunrise
Creeps above the horizon
Watercolor art

Shadowy mountain
Pressed against the moonlit night
Lonesome cries echo
Who is so drenched in sorrow
That their tears will not subside
Solitary howl
A distant screech cracks the dark
Both eerie and sad
I kneel in prayer for solace
And the coming light of day
~~ Dominic R. DiFrancesco ~~
I’ve tripped and fallen,
Arose battered, cut and bruised
Yet I’m undeterred.
Life is not always painless
Nor always terribly kind.
Instinct says to run,
To hide from that which injures
Becoming recluse.
I refuse to run or to hide,
Cowering in human fear;
Preferring instead
To face my future head on
Whatever may come.
~~ Dominic R. DiFrancesco ~~
Look all around you
Tell me what is it you see
In strangers faces
Struggle, pain, suffering, love
Perhaps a mirror image
.
~~ Dominic R. DiFrancesco ~~
The pen’s ink, ‘tis blood
Though black or blue it does bleed
Exsanguination
Red with the artisan’s soul
Staining the finest paper
~~ Dominic R. DiFrancesco ~~
I sit unnoticed;
Ignored like trash cast aside,
Snagged in the gutter.
Left to resurrect myself
Tell me what are my chances,
Who will hire me,
How will I become sober?
Drugs, drinking, illness,
You would prefer that I die;
Cleaning up the city streets.
You will not miss me,
My existence a mistake
Must be corrected.
Be happy that I am gone,
No longer a human plight.
~~ Dominic R. DiFrancesco ~~
The mystery of night
Dogs bark from all directions
What lurks in darkness
.
~~ Dominic R. DiFrancesco ~~
Mesmerized by fire
Its dance illuminating
Disembodied trance
