A New Year’s rebirth

Our hope each three-sixty-five

Could this be the year

More Schoolyard Antics

More schoolyard antics

With name calling and punches

Unpresidential

It doesn’t seem to matter

To the ignorant voter

~

What’s happened to us

Prepubescent politics

Make us laughingstocks

The Sun Shines and the Sparrows Chirp

The sun shines and the sparrows chirp

Though deaf are the ears and blind are the eyes in grief.

Days become eternal nights blackened by sorrow

As they plunge a dagger into the souls abyss.

Let not the shadows consume this life

For death is natural and inevitable and will always be.

No gauntlet may stop the Reaper’s journey;

Fate has ordained this since the beginning of time.

Try as we might to ward off the ravages of destiny

We will succumb as others before us have done.

“There are no guarantees in life” a wise man once said,

But he was wrong, there is one absolute in life…

That we most certainly will die.

Joy and Glad Tidings

Joy and glad tidings

Hallmarks of this gleeful time

Lost by so many

Those without means, abandoned

Are left to suffer alone

No tree, gifts or warmth

Is afforded to these souls

They’re invisible

Perhaps the Christmas spirit

Was meant as a reminder

That giving is more

Than gifts to friends and family

It’s to all mankind

Can You Hear Their Cries In The Wind

Can you hear their cries in the wind?

Can you smell their desperation?

They fight change with venom,

Covering their adversaries in vile spittel.

Red faced with anger they create crisis

Instilling fear and loathing in the gullible.

Spewing hatred, they seek to divide

Driving a wedge between brothers.

Lurching in their death throes

They claw to remain relevant, but it is futile!

Time is progressing as it always has

While they remain mired in the muck of the past.

Just as the dinosaur was doomed to extinction

So to are they, except they do not yet realize it.

Farewell you carnivorous beasts.

Holidays

Happiness in spite of hardships

Ordinary folks can forget their troubles

Living in joy at least for a little while

ISIS can’t take that away from any of us

Defending those easily criminalized

Always looking for goodness in others

Yuletides spirit will carry us through

Serving us all the days of our lives
