Man and the Moon

Blue black early morning sky,

Iridescent moon ,

Challenging the sun for relevance,

Destined to fail,

It will not retreat without a fight,

Not unlike the courageous man,

On the cusp of battle,

Facing mortality,

Willingly sacrificing himself,

In the face of imminent defeat,

All for a greater cause.

Bow your heads and pray,

Those lost on that tragic day,

Live on in our hearts.

The scattered debris,

Charred and lifeless in that field,

Breaking the silence.

*************************************

The two titans fall,

Waking a sleeping giant,

From it’s lethargy.

A symbol of might,

Flame and confusion consume,

Still bravery shone.
