Such excitement, congratulations, the smiles
A journey into the unknown, so exciting
We were naive to a future of so many trials
Until reality became enlightening
~
Not all were bad–in fact most were a joy
So much so we gave it another go
We prayed for a girl since we were blessed with a boy
Leaving it up to God to see which would show
~
Gift number two, with a girl we were graced
One more try we thought we would make
And last but not least, in our trust she was placed
A daughter–our youngest in whose life we partake
~
In spite of imperfections of which there are more than a few
With a heart full of pride, I am honored through and through

Jem Farmer The Boi Poet – Tuesday’s Thinking 19 Nov Writing Prompt
Lovely sonnet Dom, being the parent of two lads I longed for a girl, but yes we are blessed with what we have.
Absolutely, that is one thing we don’t have any control over. We just need to be thankful that they are happy and healthy. Thank you for providing a wonderful prompt my friend.
Very nice flow….
Thank you very much.
I remember being touched by an earlier poem about your children!
Thank you Gilly, what I write is truly what I think about them and my wife as well, but I am not terribly good at expressing it verbally, so this works best for me. :)
