That is such a sad site to see. Fortunately where I live all the farms are up and running, but I have seen some…you can see that once there was living and stories and then poof. It makes you wonder how and why. What happened to all of the stories?
I know, when I first moved to the town I live in the entire roadway was bordered by flourishing farms with fields of cotton, vegetables and fruit and now they are no longer being tended. I too often wonder what happened to them, I find it very sad. My guess is that giant farming conglomerates put these smaller farmers out of business.

It is sad. Your poem gives these poor farmers who are long gone a voice. So they are not forgotten.
Thank you Kimberly, I think it is important to give a voice to those that have fallen silent so that we don’t forget.
Until it all begins again!
Hopefully someday it will, but for now the fields are nothing but dust.
