Such a strange world,
Surrounded by creatures small and smaller.
Into this place I’ve been hurled
Though still many times taller.
This is such an odd little place
Where I’m the the center of attention.
Creatures circle, fly and leave without a trace,
Still I’m not sure what’s their intention.
Very still I choose to sit,
Holding a statuesque pose.
Afraid if I twitch or flit,
They may bite my delicate nose.
Or scratch my ivory skin,
Turning snow white to bloody red,
Maybe kick me in the shins,
By god, I look almost dead.
Then suddenly a boom,
To the sound of thunder I awake.
Lying on the floor of my room,
Tell me–how much acid did I take.

I had read this earlier today but didn’t have the time to comment – this is a special one!
Thank you very much, I had a lot of fun with this one. :)
Brilliant, Dominic!!! I love this and love the flow of this poem. These lines seemed to set the stage for me…very imaginative!!
Holding a statuesque pose.
Afraid if I twitch or flit,
They may bite my delicate nose.
I had a lot of fun writing this once I got started. I thought it was a great prompt. :)
Absolutely fabulous haha
Thank you, my mind clearly works in mysterious ways. Thank you for the great prompt, I really enjoyed it. :)
Great job Dom…a bit wierd in all the right ways…and what a conclusion to the poem…fantastic :-D
Thank you so much, this was a really fun one to write. :)
You can see that you were into the post! :-) Well done again!
I really was, thank you. :)
This was a difficult prompt — you did it well! It does look like an acid trip, doesn’t it?!?
Thanks Jen, yes it does look like an acid trip, bizarre. :)
Well, I had to laugh when I got to the end, but then I thought — it’s really a story to weep over. But either way, you have done a truly excellent job of writing here. I especially like the changes in rhythm, but the consistency of the rhyme scheme. They counterbalance one another. It’s just unique. I like it.
Thank you very much. This poem was pure fiction including the “acid” part, I was just having some fun. I am very glad that you liked it.
Thank you for visiting my blog and for the follow. I’m looking forward to getting to know you. Blessings, Natalie :)
My pleasure and I look forward to reading much more of your writing. Thank you so much for visiting my friend. :)
