Take My Hand

A last look…Goodbye;

To this home we once called home.

Tossed out like garbage,

Circumstance counts for nothing.

Outcast by neighbors once friends.

~

Stranded on the streets.

Possibility for work

Without an address,

Hopeless beyond a nightmare.

Where will our family live?

~

In America

This happens far too often.

Promises broken,

Greed and profit motivate,

Leaving us impoverished.

~

Pick yourself up!”, cried,

By what?”, when you have nothing?

An offer to help,

A chance to practice what’s preached,

This is our sacred duty.

    • Thank you very much for noticing. This is the topic that I love to write about the most, because I feel that it is vitally important. I’m so glad that they have had an affect on you, that makes writing all the more worthwhile.

  1. Dom, your words do bring awareness to many who would otherwise look away, maybe the touch of your words might move hearts to lend a helping hand and share with those who are suffering. For all are our brothers and sisters, so we should never look away, for there are many harvests in our lives! There will be times of plenty, and times of drought, so when we help in times of plenty, when our times of less come someone might stretch out a helping hand to soothe our troubles! Awesome poem my brother!

    • Thank you very much. It is my hope, or maybe just a dream, that we all would offer a helping hand to a brother or sister in need when they are most vulnerable. Sadly, I’m not sure that many things in our culture are conducive to this. I will, however remain hopeful and optimistic. Be well my friend.
