Little thought do we give at time of conception,
Isolated in our cocoon of lust and love.
Feeling as one, our sensual obsession,
Embraced in our skins like hand in a glove.
Another’s life we send on its wondrous journey,
No consideration given to responsibility taken.
Despite their affect on our futures, so blurry,
Doned in false wisdom we vow to ne’er be shaken.
Even in this arrogance the question must arise,
After time to ponder has settled our voice.
The seriousness of our action lay right before our eyes,
Having created something of beauty with or without choice.

I’m curious. Where do you start with this style? Do you write the words down and then the rest? Or do you write your poem and then make it fit?
I tend to write the word or phrase down first with an idea in mind to go along with it, then I write the poem. Sometimes however, things just evolve as I am writing the poem and it doesn’t end up where I thought it would. That is part of the fun of writing these. I know there are some that find acrostics juvenile, but they actually are not an easy write, especially when it comes to keeping the poem related to the word or phrase.
