Oh my goodness, oh my goodness–first, it’s splendid and gorgeous; second, I was just thinking about eggplant, the color…..great minds, Dom, great minds.
Eggplant was the color of the sky as I was driving home from work tonight, it inspired me to write this piece and I too love a good eggplant. Thank you my friend, great minds do think alike don’t they. :)
I’ll just bet you can cook a good Eggplant Parmesan! I tried–and failed miserably; any tips? By the tangential way, I think your name is really interesting–sounds kind of priest-like, and of course romantic, being Italian.
Actually, I am not much of a cook, but my wife does make a terrific Eggplant Parmesan. It took me a long time to like my name although I assume that most kids don’t like their names, but now I love it and am very proud of it, it was my grandfathers name, which I then gave to my son. There was a time when I was younger that I wanted to be a minister, I love religions of all kinds although I’m not terribly religious. I am one of the few of Italian/Irish desent that is not Catholic, most people find that odd, they just assume that I am Catholic.
How very interesting–particularly the part about growing into a love and pride for your name–I suspect that’s more common than I’d thought. And from some of your poetry, I didn’t have a sense that you were Catholic or religious–maybe still a seeker? Wishing you a blessed week–write, write, write!
Thanks Mirada you have a blessed week as well. :)
So simple, yet the words transported me to that sky! Beautifully written. :)
