In this sea of blowing sand
I am but a speck seemingly insignificant.
In this vast and ever moving ocean
I am but a drop of water, nearly unrecognizable.
In this massive forest, thick and green
I am but a leaf, one of many that will wither and die.
In this blinding ivory white tundra
I am but a crystal of ice lost amongst the multitude.
In this throng of disparate humanity
I am but one in this crowd of my brothers and sisters.
But am I really this infinitesimal?
I think not because I choose to believe otherwise!
I am a creator,
I am the center,
I am significant
I am recognizable,
I am unique as a grain of sand,
A drop of water,
A single leaf,
A crystal of ice.
I am who I choose to be!
Beholden to no one but myself.
I am the light of my world,
Creating my life ,
As I choose it to be.

Amazing how you move from making the reader feel small and build them into feeling big.
Thank you, you got the point of the piece. :)
You know us short people. We’re always feeling small and dreaming of being big. ;)
Well I’ve got the big part down, but that is about it. :)
This is beautiful Dom, very special indeed.
Thank you Gilly, I appreceiate it.
I like this!
Thank you very much. :)
Dom, this is an amazing poem. I love all the vivid imagery and beautiful metaphors you employ here. Yes we are significant but we are one small part of a bigger universe. I also like the idea of being ones own Creator and Creation. Beautifully written.
Thank you Emily, this is a topic that more recently I am intrigued with. I hope you have been well.
Im very open minded when it comes to Spirituality. I married a die hard atheist however, so he and I do not discuss spiritual things. Im more into New Age and metaphysical types of things. Although, i do have an interest in The Law of Attraction movement and also am interested in different forms of Buddhism. I welcome others viewpoints as a way to keep an open mind.
Strangely, enough your poem reminded me of some of my husbands atheist views. He also feels he is his own Creator/ Creation. Although he is pretty tight lipped about the rest of his beliefs. I just respect that He and I differ on this. Im more of a polytheist, myself.
Spoken like a writer — or a pirate! — arrr!
Great piece. :)
Thank you very much Jen, I think its time for me to walk the plank. :)
Arrrr! I hope everything turns out well.
Oh it will turn out fine, I’m just in a bit of a mood right now. Thank you Jen.
Well, don’t forget: we’re all here for you. It’s long-distance support, but there are a lot of us.
Thank you its nice to know that you all are out there, it really does help a lot, much more than you know.
Actually, I can sort of understand. The people who follow, comment, and like my own blog are a huge relief. It’s good to write and know that “someone is out there” – that we’re not just releasing balloons into the wilderness and hoping they land somewhere. (Though I did do that once!) So … be kind to yourself … and keep writing. :)
Thank you Jen and sorry for the late reply and absence. I appreciate your friendship and understanding and I will get back to my usual self soon. :)
Sending hugs your way! :)
Thank you my friend, I truly appreciate it. :)

I love this one!
Thank you very much Ahmed, I appreciate it.
Anthemic–love it! Thank you.
Thank you very much. :)
