  1. I knew you from “the west” but didn’t realize you were in AZ. How neat! I was born there. :) Had heard that AZ has tons and tons of hummingbirds. I really only see them briefly, maybe once a year — but my grandparents had tons of them at their farm. They can be feisty, can’t they? Peeping and zipping at one another as they raid the nectar feeder. Adorable though! And beautiful. Your poem does them justice!

  2. Very nice. I especially like the picture: “statuesque in its feeding.” It’s such a perfect description of a hummingbird, and I don’t think there’s any other bird that it would fit as well.
