Darkness approaches
Yet we don’t see it coming.
We have been lied to,
Betrayed by our government.
Still…many among us cheer.
Maybe I’m confused
When those affected revel.
Blindly happy;
Ignoring their own demise

This world has changed,
Though sometimes not for the better.
Progress coming at an expense,
Sacrificing flesh and blood for profit.
What has happened to our humanity?
Desensitized by corporatism,
We succumb to instant gratification,
In lieu of compassion.
Becoming fools and marionettes,
To the puppet masters.
Lining our pockets with trinkets.
Just to placate out need,
To live another day.
