Words I (Try to) Live By

As dramas unfold in life,

We seek guidance wherever it may be found,

God, government, friends, family,

Selectively choosing that which we find amiable,

While discarding what is distasteful,

This grants us no benefit,

Except to the feeble mind which construed.

At times we must exhibit courage through self-sacrifice,,

Enduring the consequences of our thoughts and deeds,

In order to reap our just reward,

In this truth, I strive to live my life,

To curb unkind thoughts,

Withhold unhelpful actions,

And consider every man my equal and friend.

  1. Oh. You just placed into words something – a drama – I have been living for almost a year. And you have placed into words how I have felt, what I have done, why I have done it and why it was important for me to do this. Thank you so much. So so much.

    • Thank you so much for such a nice comment. I struggle with this type of thing on almost a daily basis, but I really try to live by what I wrote no matter how hard it is to do. I hope that the drama in your life subsides and you have a chance to relax. Be well. :)
