Are They Asking Too Much

Parents bleed failure

Shattered by their children’s cries

Hungry and dirty

Tortured by their poverty

They look above for relief

But prayers are ignored

They don’t qualify for aid

How poor must you be

In this, the greatest nation

Before they are helped

  1. Aid can be a real pain. My wife and I had to put in for medical coverage this year because COBRA was draining our accounts. My wife and I got in, but her part-time job made too much for my 3-year-old son to get coverage. She lost the job and suddenly we made too little for the coverage they were trying to get my son on, so we had to resubmit for the one he was denied for. It was an epic mess.

    • I’m sorry to hear this. It is such a shame that your 3 year old son couldn’t be covered. This should never happen in this country, but unfortunately it does more often than we would like to admit.

      • Yeah. It’s pretty baffling to us that the people who can ‘suck up and deal’ with a few minor diseases are covered, but the one that just entered school and has a developing immune system is denied. Thankfully, he recently got it fixed and he’s covered under our plan. Took a lot of tears from my wife and angry glares from me to get it pushed through quickly.

      • I’m really glad that in the end it worked out, but it certainly should have taken the effort that you and your wife had to put forth to get you child covered. This should have been a “no brainer”. :)
