Cloudless Sky – A Shadorma

Cloudless sky,

Granite peaks part blue

Bright canvas.

This painting,

Brushed from an artists palette,

A true masterpiece.

~

Perfection,

Born of natures hand

Is flawless.

To compare

With the mortal works of man

Would be an insult.

Author’s Note: The Shadorma is a poetic form consisting of a six-line stanza (or sestet). The form is alleged to have originated in Spain. Each stanza has a syllable count of three syllables in the first line, five syllables in the second line, three syllables in the third and fourth lines, seven syllables in the fifth line, and five syllables in the sixth line (3/5/3/3/7/5) for a total of 26 syllables. A poem may consist of one stanza, or an unlimited number of stanzas (a series of shadormas).  The information above was from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shadorma.

    • Thank you for the reblog Sahm, I really very nice of you to do. I found this form on the Writer’s Digest website in their list of poetry forms. There is some confusion as to its real origin, but it was still a fun form to write and a little more difficult than it looks. I appreciate you continued support my friend.

      • Word up, Dom! :) Yeah, I notice some of the “easy” looking forms are actually pretty damn challenging. I’m learning this just about everyday. :/

      • Yes, I agree, I learned that lesson myself doing some of the structured form poems I’ve done lately. I guess that is why those that are great at them are called masters. :)

    • Well, I guess we all see what we want to. I have been trying to get my weight down so I try not to see food everywhere, but it has been hard. :) You should try other forms, you have such a talent for this that I’m sure you would do really well, maybe try a chocolate cinquain or an Oreo ode or perhaps a Souffle’ sonnet, oh my god, I have to stop this I getting really hungry. LOL! :)
