Me too. I hate being scared, but I love reading ghost stories. Go figure.
I think it is just human nature, this interest in the supernatural. I wouldn’t say that I love to be scared either (maybe a little), but I am fascinated with the possibilities that these things exist among us.
Maybe with ghosts, the idea stems from existing after death.
I believe it does. :)
Dom, one of your best! Does the poem consciously reflect Chinese cultural/religious beliefs and/or superstitions of earlier times? If not, could you give us a little background for the poem?
Ron, this one was a little less complicated than that. I happen to love reading and watching anything having to do with the supernatural as does my youngest daughter. We had just watched a few shows on this topic and I decided to write the poem in response. I do write quite often on spirituality and religion in general, but this one was not intended to be as deep although it does draw on varying religious beliefs. Thank you for asking and I’m glad that you liked the poem its very nice of you to say.
Dom, the “back story” of your poem is very much appreciated. The poem itself bears an eerie resemblance to many of the religious beliefs and happenings in “A Time of Ghosts,” by David Coomler. I have no connection or financial interest in the book; I’m just a very satisfied customer and reader. Warm Wishes — Ron
Thank you Ron, I will check out “A Time of Ghosts” it sounds like something that I would be very interested in. My best wishes to you as well my friend. – Dom
Darest I say Bwaaa Haaa Haaa fair maiden, of course I probably did the whole Bwaaa haaa haaa thing wrong as well. :) Love the Twilight Zone as well, great show if I sayeth so myself. :)
Makes me feel sorry for wandering spirits.
Me too, I happened to be watching a few of these types of shows prior to writing this. I happen to have an interest in this type of thing.
