Supernatural (Tanka)

Supernatural

Souls lost between provinces

Unable to leave

Reliving their earthly hell

Trapped in the netherworld

  1. Dom, one of your best! Does the poem consciously reflect Chinese cultural/religious beliefs and/or superstitions of earlier times? If not, could you give us a little background for the poem?

    Thanks!

    Ron

    • Ron, this one was a little less complicated than that. I happen to love reading and watching anything having to do with the supernatural as does my youngest daughter. We had just watched a few shows on this topic and I decided to write the poem in response. I do write quite often on spirituality and religion in general, but this one was not intended to be as deep although it does draw on varying religious beliefs. Thank you for asking and I’m glad that you liked the poem its very nice of you to say.

      • Dom, the “back story” of your poem is very much appreciated. The poem itself bears an eerie resemblance to many of the religious beliefs and happenings in “A Time of Ghosts,” by David Coomler. I have no connection or financial interest in the book; I’m just a very satisfied customer and reader. Warm Wishes — Ron
