Dogma plagues our human existence
Erasing common decency–trading it for war .
Souls bought and sold because of inspired word;
Thrown to the wolves by those in sheep’s clothing.
I do not hate religion, I do not deny its inalienable right
Nor do I deny the good which it contains.
Yet zealots pass judgment in the Name of their God–
destroying the lives of others…this I despise.

Wow, I love doing acrostics–and this one is so pointedly well done. Very sad and tragic, what happens in God’s Name sometimes–how it must make Him weep; but I have some faith that He will indeed sort it out in the end. After all, He has brought me through–and that’s saying a lot.
I love them too and they are not as easy to write as some people may think. Yes, it is sad the horrible things that people do in the Name of God. I’m quite certain that this is was not The Almighty’s intention.
I have an acrostic coming up tomorrow, in case you’re interested…
I am interested and I apologize, I didn’t realize I wasn’t following you posts. You are an outstanding poet and I look forward to reading more of you work. Thank you for letting me know about your acrostic.
No need to apologize, Dom–and I appreciate you reading my work; it’s fun to be mutual blog fans!
Absolutely, and I am looking forward to reading much more of your work. :)
Faith and religion are two totally different things, aren’t they?
Great poem.
They sure are although I think they are far too often intertwined. Thank you Jen. :)
