Silence Deafening – A Tanka

Silence deafening

Alone with my thoughts of you

Tormenting my soul

Will loneliness be my fate

Led by love’s vicious blindness

Trying To Believe – A Tanka

Trying to believe

Innocent of the murder

Seems implausible

This was the jury’s verdict

Too bad the dead cannot talk

The Question

I was once asked,

“When death stares you in the face what will you say?”

I pondered and sighed and smiled a smile I could not erase.

Thank you…

That was my answer,

Thank you for my life,

It has been full.

Thank you for my wife,

My lover,

My partner,

My children,

Thank you for every sunrise,

Every sunset,

Every shooting star in the heavens,

Thank you for all the love,

The sadness,

The joys,

The pain,

I couldn’t have gotten on without you.

These are but a simple few of all for which I’d give thanks.

Of all that I am thankful for, I am most thankful for time,

Not for how much or how little,

But thank you for the time that I had in this beautiful tortured world,

Amongst those I love,

And those that loved me.

For these I am most thankful.

The League Of Nations – A Tanka

This league of nations

Diversity on the streets

American life

The greatness of our nation

Is its mixed soup of cultures

Jealous Hearts – A Haiku

Jealous hearts, shredded

Stripped of passion that once lived

Leaving bitterness

Something So Simple

Something so simple

We make so complicated

Love, a smile, their dimples

Can we never be placated

We make things so hard

When we should be accepting

Love is written in the stars

But too late we’re left reflecting

Imagination – A Tanka

Imagination

Rouses fear from hidden lair

Racing heart, it pounds

What dangers lurk in shadow

Only the devil doth know

Sorry for my scarceness this week I am out of town on vacation and am reading and posting as time permits.  Thank you for your support and I will be back soon.

Labors Of Love

Labors of love like a warm breeze caress,

Softening edges worn rough by duress,

Seeking to bleed by releasing the soul,

Preventing it from suffocating in tortured black hole.

~

Quill as my sword toward battle I go,

What awaits up ahead I do not yet know,

But brilliant or poor unique it must be,

When a mind is consoled and it’s spirit set free.

~

Words as a weapon through ink that is laid,

Or passion unleashed in love that’s forbade,

Perhaps shrouded in mystery with nary a clue,

Or cringing in darkness in terror we’re drew.

Poet’s imagine with the most subtle prose,

No subject off limits, as anything goes,

Photo or painting both classics of art,

One modern, one ancient, endeared by the heart.

What poison is picked to us matters not,

May last an eternity and ne’er be forgot,

That future generations might enjoy what we loved,

Knowing we’re remembered as we look down from above.

Draw Near

Draw near cherished one,

To feel you close nourishes me,

Feeding heart and soul

No greater love has there been,

Than that between you and I.

The touch, skin on skin,

Warm, soft, moist, us intertwined,

Locked, passionate kiss;

Bodies tight as we become one,

One heart, one soul, forever.

To See The River

To see the river and watch it flow,

Effortlessly from where it came to whence it go

Never curious about why or where,

Traveling with grace, nary a care.

Unlike man who obsesses and frets,

About all that he gives and all that he gets.

Grabbing as much as he possibly can,

Selfish and hoarding ‘til it gets out of hand.

Then in the end they find all is for naught,

Worth nothing more than a penny for a thought.

Wise would it have been to follow rivers example,

Living with ease, nature provides all that is ample.
