This Love, My Love I Have Procured

This love, my love I have procured

With this cadence thumping in my breast.

~

You have shadowed my sensibilities

Keeping step with tango’s passion.

~

Nothing more could I inquire of you

Than that which you have deliberately given me.

~

Fulfilled beyond words that you are mine and I yours,

Comrades and lovers in this roughshod world.

~

So rare in this realm of disparate souls;

Failures of the heart abound in every corner,

Tear-drenched souls void of our gift,

How sad their discomfort.

~

Neither crisis nor passing shall sever our bond;

Joined in Heaven we are destiny,

Our destiny, my destiny, your destiny,

For all these many years into eternity.

~

You are and have forever been

My love,

My friend,

My everything.

Gift of Failure

Is not our destiny emboldened by failures,

Our willingness to succumb to self-doubt and pity,

This affords us nary a benefit.

I ask, to what then do we owe our failures?

Profound gratitude comes first to mind,

A hearty handshake,

A warm pat on the back for the lesson learned.

Strengthening character through adversity, we thrive

Redirecting destiny in the direction of our choosing,

Revoking it’s privilege to capitalize on our fears,

We take charge of the path we travel.

Quashing failure…

We sway our very circumstance.

A Leap Of Faith

A leap of faith,

Whether in love,

Whether in life,

Whether at death,

Waking is to plummet,

Headlong into the unforeseen.

A mystery without end,

Until we breathe our final breath,

Meeting whatever fortune,

We so feverishly wove,

Through thoughts and deeds,

Living absent of tomorrow,

We cannot know,

We cannot want to know,

What fate awaits,

On our final day.

Dismissing Destiny

By D. R. DiFrancesco

~~~~~~
To face the truth
One must face what they fear most
What’s uncomfortable builds character
Strengthens every fiber of their being
You cannot grow physically or spiritually alone
Cradled in your convenient cocoon
To break out and take wing you must fall
Close your eyes
Step over the edge into the unknown
Destiny beckons you forward
Choosing to live life in a net of safety disappoints
Conceiving regret as it’s progeny
This is not living, it is merely existing
We are meant to do and become what we dream
No boundaries can contain you
Was not every great achievement born of an impossible vision
Laughed upon by those with no imagination
Dare to persevere
Do not let those of a narrow mind stifle you
Your greatness lies on the road just ahead
In this you can be assured
Lessons of Life
Looking forward,
Staring into the mirror of my life,
Returns a reflection of my past.
Like history,
My yesterdays keep repeating themselves,
Leaving me struggling to break free.
Hopes and dreams left partially fulfilled,
And regrets, of which there are many,
A constant battle to overcome.
Thankfully with age, I’m less likely to lament,
Especially over those things which I can not change,
Instead choosing to carve out a niche’ for the joyful things in life.
Should mistakes of the past be renewed,
Looking with eyes steeped in greater wisdom,
I endeavor to make this their last.
Still the realist that I am gets in the way,
Making the struggle monumental,
And the results muddled.
Yes…I am a flawed creature,
Free will engendered as both blessing and curse,
Yet I do not desire to change it.
We are given but one existence,
Is it destiny…luck…or divine intervention that lights our path,
For this, I have no answer, choosing instead to sit back and enjoy this wild ride.
Wither Away
By: D. DiFrancesco
The pain of watching one wither away
Indescribable and yet inescapable
Remembering how vibrant and energetic they were
We think they will never go away.
I can still see her
In the kitchen apron on making a meal
It doesn’t matter which one it was
They all are precious memories to me.
I was a child
She was everything to me back then
Eyes shining, the silkiness of her voice
These were some of my happiest days.
Then childhood passes
Like the sweep of the second hand
Harsh reality clings like beads of sweat
Those once so virile commence to fade.
We try to stave off the inevitable for as long as we can
But alas it proves useless
No magic elixer can halt the decline
How swift does frailty overcome us.
Her eyes have sunk into evenings dark abyss
The hunch in the back, a sign of a life of burden
Her stride gives way to a shuffle
The mercy of others her only salvation.
No longer able to self-sustain
Twilights arms embrace who she once was
A child returns from where it started
The circle of life incarnate.
Her mobility has vanished, now forever prone
But oddly the memories of her past are clear
Thoughts from more modern times she can’t remember
Eternities multitude is calling her home.
She’s withered away, her grace in passing inspires
In her destiny we see ourselves
We fear this most as our time here is finite
To our maker we must trust our mortal souls…farewell.
A Common Life
A COMMON LIFE
By: D. DiFrancesco
Dreams of greatness pass
Like the flickering flame of a candle doth die.
Youth brings thoughts that cannot last
Through every hope reality replies.
Ambitions push for fame and glory
These too are dashed in fires eternal.
Ministering to the flock the age old story
Left for lifes pleasures carnal.
To serve with honor next desired
On oceans of blue and green not to be.
Parental opposition they both conspired
To steer this ship into calmer seas.
So many attempts have I endevored
To make my way on paths I’ve chosen.
To no avail the byways severed
A common subsistence I’m now beholden.
Regrets at one time there were so many
Now reconciled I am at peace.
Born to this world a life of frenzy
The joys of experience cry out for release.
Tears no more will my eyes engender
My path to destiny fulfilled.
To the little things I prize surrender
A troubled conscience now stilled.
I worry no more of roads less traveled
As a life lived well is a life worth living.
Those that I love smooth what I have raveled
Content to pass on with all I’ve been given.
So worry not for me when the time doth come
The fruits I’ve inherited, greater than my share.
Resolute I’ve gifted far more than some
Prepared to leave this world with nary a care.
