Don’t regret the past
Focus on what lies ahead
You are it’s master
~~ D. R. DiFrancesco ~~
Harshness of anger
Curdles the virtues of the soul
Souring logic and compassion
Verbal hate lobbed in revenge
Proves unsatisfying, wielding regret
A levy of silence better culled
Foregoing acrimony
In favor of diplomacy
~~ D. R. DiFrancesco ~~
I hold no ill will toward you,
As so many years have passed,
Softening the blows,
Physical and figurative,
Mending the wake of destruction,
Which you so callously sowed,
With the passing of each scarred soul,
The shameful becomes legend,
Stories told…perhaps exaggerated,
By progeny twice or more removed,
Your only legacy,
Undeserving of even this remembrance,
You’ve blackened our name,
Are we to forgive you,
That is for God to judge,
Are we to pity ourselves,
No…for we are stronger than you knew,
With sadness we look back,
Cursing your existence,
Mourning your departure,
Loving you as father,
Despising you as man.

Peering through the haze of a looking glass,
Scrutinizing the life I watch rush past.

Questioning choices is easy in hindsight,
Without benefit of knowing what’s wrong or what’s right.
~
The consequence of actions whether good or bad,
Must be accepted since thats all that we had.
~
Shy of vision to see into the future,
We’re left to chance of nature and nurture.
~
Through failure and success our horizons expand,
Experience alone not parlor tricks or slight-of-hand.
~
Moulds who we are for better or worse,
In this life that we live that at best is quite terse.
