The Great Overseer Watches

The great overseer watches,

Staring down upon the flora and fauna,

Yellow in the face,

Looming large,

Dwarfing all in his path.

Yet enormity is merely size,

It does not reveal his gentleness.

He would not crush the delicate flower,

Nor terrify beasts of the field.

He leaves no trace of where he’s been

Or where he is going when he leaves.

WIth grace and in silence he rises,

Laying his soft light upon all in his charge.

Signaling slumber for those of the day

And sounding his alarm for the nocturnal.

This is his way,

This is how he always has been.

He simply is

…The gentle giant.

Keeping watch

What could be more beautiful

In all the heavens

The Sun Bids Goodnight

The sun bids goodnight

Never sorry for leaving

To call its lover

Dancing this eternal dance

Until its life fire dies

Man and the Moon

Blue black early morning sky,

Iridescent moon ,

Challenging the sun for relevance,

Destined to fail,

It will not retreat without a fight,

Not unlike the courageous man,

On the cusp of battle,

Facing mortality,

Willingly sacrificing himself,

In the face of imminent defeat,

All for a greater cause.

~~~~~
Light as a feather
Wind dances through the treetops
Summoning the Gods
~~~~~

The moon overhead

Keeps watch over it’s subjects

While they soundly sleep

~~~~~
Winding rivers flow
Steadily toward open sea
Free from all constraint
~~~~~

Mountains majesty

Big Horns rule the rocky crags

Where others fear tread

Alone in this Universe (A Poem)

Spying skyward
A field of black velvet laid out before me
Punctuated by pinpoint twinkles of light
Wondering out loud
Are we really alone?

Only the arrogant answer yea
What mysteries lay beyond Orion’s Belt
Naked eyes can only speculate
Mesmerized by sights born of imagination
Pondering human existence.

Man has always conjectured
Primative cave drawings, ancient scrolls imply
Pointing towards the heavens
In search of answers
Was this the origin of religion?

We can only suspect
Ignorance feeds mythology
God,  a being unlike us
A being  born of another world
Could he not be that depicted in antiquity?

We may never know
Labeling those that claim interaction fools
Discerning their reality as insane
Yet maybe it is we that are the fools
Self-righteously condemning that which escapes our understanding.

As I lay prone
Looking to the skies for resolution
With more questions than answers
Wondering aloud
Are we really alone?
