As We Near Our End (Tanka)

As we near our end

Do we find any comfort

Letting life go dark

Heaven awaits its next Saint

May you pass in peaceful sleep

    • Actually, I wrote this one for my grandmother who is 102 years old soon to be 103 on November 15th, but unfortunately her reasonably good health has deteriorated rapidly over the past couple of months and is now only expected to live a few more weeks. She is one of the sweetest, calmest, most saintly people that I have ever met and I was just thinking about what one might be thinking when they are faced with their inevitable end. I’m so glad that you like this, it means a lot to me. :)

      • Wow. 102 yrs old. I could not imagine – all that she has seen and experienced – history. What a gift. This is a beautiful piece. I like it very much. xx

  1. Lovely poem and beautiful tribute. My thoughts are with you and your family. Your grandmother has lived a long life and perhaps her presence was to teach and spread her goodness down to many generations. Blessings.
