Life’s Dramas Unfold (Senryu)

Life’s dramas unfold

Don’t get caught in their dragnet

Or you may just drown

Between Joy And Sadness Is Life

Between joy and sadness is life

Mundane and mindless

Shopping at the market

Shuttling kids from event to event

Paying the bills

Cleaning the gutters

Washing the laundry

Not to be taken for granted

Even the banal can make memories

Somewhere In My Brain (Senryu)

Somewhere in my brain

A novel waits to be born

Playing hide and seek

Regretting The Past (Tanka)

Regretting the past

It cannot be changed once gone

It must be let go

Otherwise it destroys

Leaving sorrow in its wake

Mysteries Abound (Haiku)

Mysteries abound

So much unknown to mankind

Written in the stars

Traipsing Through The Mud (Haiku)

Traipsing through the mud

So nice to feel like a kid

Hope no one sees me

Tin Cup In His Hand (Tanka)

Tin cup in his hand

Begging for change in the rain

Hoping to survive

Tens of thousands of dollars

Spent to sit on the fifty

The Heavens Opened

The heavens opened

And tears fell in a deluge

Drowning out the sun.

Show me we deserve its warmth,

The joy we get from its light.

There is so much wrong

And none of it is our fault,

Or so we believe.

Climate change, its natural;

Pollution, blame the Chinese.

Procrastination,

Our answer for everything,

How terribly sad.

“It can wait ‘til tomorrow”;

Is our national motto.

Yes, heaven opened,

Its tears fell as acid rain,

But it’s not our fault.

Leave it all for the children,

We’ll be gone soon anyway.

Songs of the Morning (Haiku)

Songs of the morning

Coming from the trees and fields

The innocent rise

Drink The Frigid Morn (Tanka)

Drink the frigid morn

Feel your body come alive

With each vivid breath

This, the invisible force

Visible to be honored
