We Dilute Ourselves

We dilute ourselves

Believing terrorism

Is new to our shores.

How ‘bout Oklahoma City,

The Olympic Park

Or Ted Kaczynski.

Maybe Newtown rings a bell

Perhaps Columbine;

A seemingly endless list

And not a single Muslim.

More often than not

Terrorists look just like you.

Scary isn’t it?

Fear Masquerading

Fear masquerading–

A disguise for the hatred

Lodged in feeble minds.

Isolationism calls

To quell the terror within.

Still you don’t see it,

You are giving them the win

And emboldening.

While we can’t change our sordid past

We can and must change our future

For the good of all mankind.

Home

Home…where is it,

Everywhere, nowhere, our place of birth?

We can separate,

Travel far from where our roots were sown,

But those roots lie buried;

Dormant like the bear in winter

Only to sprout when we return some spring.

There is nothing like home!

We change, it changes

Yet beyond our differences we are the same.

Our blood flows red

Its earth flows brown, rich and enriching;

Drawing us back together

Like long lost brothers,

Like brothers who have never known each other,

Separated at birth then reunited as if never apart.

How strange it is this dichotomous relationship.

Tied together by eons, we deny our love,

Claiming separation while trapped in bondage.

Tell me…where is home?

It is in the filth, the change, the death of all we hold dear,

It is in what no one else can understand,

What flows through our veins, what feeds our souls,

What we will take to the grave when we die.

Home is who we are

Where we grew up no matter how distasteful,

A part of us, like our hearts and minds,

Something we will hate and cherish

Until our breath comes no more.

Hatred

Humanity cast aside by irrational fears

Are men, women and children to be left to die in the cold

To perish with no way forward and no way back

Reality supplanted by racism your justification

Every one of you should be ashamed

Demonizing what you don’t understand

Just as Time Passes

Just as time passes

So to do nature’s seasons

Winter comes calling

Swells Do Roll and Crest

Swells do roll and crest

Ever higher and deeper

In violent rage

Poseidon shows no mercy

In the face of man’s folly

He takes what is his

Via trident and tempest

As done for eons

Seafarers have felt his wrath

With their last breath and their souls

Neither steel nor wood

Doth offer them asylum

This is not his way

As he strangles his victims

To fill his watery grave

Will We Never Learn

Will we never learn

This incessant gun culture

Always ends with death

Each mass murder punctuates

Still nothing ever changes

Time of Transition

Time of transition

Inevitable as birth

This is not the end

It’s simply the beginning

Of your spirit’s next journey

Hope For Our Future

Hope for our future

Lies not with the warmongers

They have lead us here

Killing is not the answer

It must be the last resort

Maybe I Missed It…

Maybe I missed it…

When we became anointed

Rulers of the world,

Taking nation’s resources,

Conquering their citizens.

And tell me for what?

Could it be for our profit

As it always is?

All the savages be damned

They can’t stop us anyway!

But the refugees,

The wars and the violence…

This isn’t our fault.

Why take blame for our actions

When you can blame someone else.
