On the breath of the hideous beast,
The musk of man most surely seeped through.
To him her throat was like an elaborate feast,
As his clawed hands wound, her fear grew.
~
Her hair a mix of auburn tangle and knot,
From chase through thicket sharp and deep.
The witches coven in a diabolical plot,
Souls unsuspecting they hoped to reap.
~
This fairest maiden, a nymph to be sure,
Was sacrificed to Hell on Albatross wing.
As Satan’s minion fulfills their lore,
Discordant the coven dances and sings.
~
Then the unlikeliest of heroes appeared,
A mendicant cloaked in camels hair robe.
Wielding a sword Templar cross in it was seared,
Though the Templars had vanished long ago I was told.
~
Under Mother Ursa Minor, Polaris brightly shining,
The fleet-footed beggar struck a single fatal blow.
Striking the beast’s skull tangerine sparks blinding,
Sending him to Hell whence he came down below.
~
Lowering his hood the beggar glowed unearthly white,
This man was not a man as we assumed.
Pointing his sword up to Heaven and the night,
He disappeared banishing the coven to the gloom.
~
The beggar–an angel sent from Almighty I suppose,
Will the wonders from above never cease.
Sent to save us all from God’s worst demonic foes,
Guiding us into eternal peace.

The soul while on earth struggles in the stairwell,
Longing to climb to heavenly heights.
This pursuit, no matter how noble and well intentioned
Does not come without warning.
Do not squander this life, nor disjoint from the Creator,
Whomever you hold that deity to be.
For surely you will suffer in the fires of hell
Which the devil’s bellow hath stoked.
Instead follow the avenue both straight and narrow,
For you are the seed planted in the furrow,
Not by accident, but by design to flourish.
Though I know you salivate to touch eternity,
All consumed by the promise of this lyrical dream,
You are here to make a difference,
To create, to fulfill the promise
…of your divine birth.

Brilliant stars
A sliver of moon
Magical
Perfection
I can see heaven from earth
What could be better

The gathering storm
Perfect bout–Heaven and Hell
There are no victors
Yet we remain undeterred
Fighting ‘til our final day

Joy in the melody of the sparrow’s song,
I sit in wonderment at the skies varied palette.
As though an observer, I feel I don’t belong,
Second fiddle in this heavenly ballad.
.
Yet my premise is false, I am part the story,
Woven into the fabric of our universe.
Sharing in its pain and relishing in its glory,
Though my time is for certain most terse.
.
Revealing in it’s beauty, I’m astonished by the day,
How perfection could have happen by chance.
A Universal Spirit must surely have had it’s way,
In this earthly and spiritual fire dance.
.
With each passing day, O’ how little I know,
Though I wouldn’t miss the chance to see the show.

Saguaro arms raised
Reaching skyward towards heaven
In eternal prayer
Like a monk doing penance
For a life of transgression

Pain of loss cuts deep
Even if not a surprise
An angel is free
Yet there’s joy in this sadness
For a long life so well lived

Whisked with the breath of Angels

Forest walk–crisp night,
Moon reflecting off snow white.
Pure as God’s Angels
Welcoming the virgin birth
Into this diluted world.
So short a time is the beauty unspoiled;
Where footsteps have not yet soiled.
Until man imparts his bloody mark
Corrupting nature’s pristine gift.
