Eternal journey

I am not a wise man,
Questions–I have so many,
A seeker am I.
No–this is not a complaint.
My path is profoundly worn,
Worn by ancestors
All belonging to my tribe,
My brother humans.
Neither the first nor the last;
Others will travel this road
Leaving blood and sweat
As markers of their journey…
Of this I am sure.
I take solace in this fact
That I’ve not ventured alone.

Modern Magellan,
O’ how I wish to explore
Beyond my country.
Sheltered by America,
I long to breach its borders.
There is so much more,
More than our brief history,
Our moment in time.
The lands of our ancestors
There–just a voyage away
…Maybe someday.
~~ Dominic R. DiFrancesco ~~
In silence–screaming
Something only I can hear
Urging me onward
Headlong into the unknown
A metaphysical quest

This road,
Long,
Winding,
Uncharted,
Devoid of footsteps.
I am a trailblazer,
Adventurer,
Explorer,
Magellan.
I am a father,
Husband,
Friend,
Lover.
I am a fighter,
A force of nature,
Brutal in defense of those I love,
Unrelenting.
I am kind,
Generous,
Sympathetic,
Compassionate.
I am living,
Doing the best I can,
Grateful for all I have,
Hopeful for all that I want,
This is the life journey I must walk alone.

This journey followed
One created for myself
Existed within me
Born before my date of birth
In the universal mind

Dirt road of life walked
Full of potholes and ditches
Where does the road end
Do you really want to know
Wouldn’t it spoil the fun

Dormant hopes plow headlong into the day
Exposing what should have been embarked upon long ago.

Fear and trepidation are expelled by confident reserve
Earned through years and experience.
~
Age’s limitations are banished
Realizing that age holds no boundary on dreams.
~
To succumb would be to admit paralyzing defeat,
This would be unacceptable.
~
Imagined consequences only serve to inhibit
Stunting our ability to progress toward true destiny.
~
For there is no failure in the journey made
Only in never having made the journey
